Cristian Corcione went 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two runs scored and an RBI and Ryan Ford knocked in two runs to lead the Patriots (3-2, 3-1) past the Colonials (1-1, 1-1) for their third straight win.

Freshman Patrick Burns scored three runs during a 2-for-3 game at the plate and Nick Lodispoto was 1-for-2 with four stolen bases in the win.

Nick Aiello doubled and drove in two, Phil Marcantonio doubled home a run and Matt Granato was 3-for-4 with three runs scored for Freehold Boro, which nearly rallied to tie the game with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Nick Lodispoto earned the win with three innings of work on 63 pitches while Ryan Kurczeski threw 66 pitches in 3 2/3 innings. Bryan Reed came on to record the final out for the save.

Henry Nonnamacher took the loss and threw 75 pitches for Freehold Boro.

 

Neptune 3, Howell 2 (10 Innings)

Kyle Bailey delivered a game-winning RBI double with two out in the bottom of the 10th and the Scarlet Fliers walked off with a win over the Rebels, their first of the season after three tight losses to open the season.

Devon Furges doubled home two runs with a double to tie the game in the fifth, which followed Howell's two-run third. Ryan Bearse clubbed a solo home run in the Rebels rally.

Senior Alex DiBona pitched four solid frames, went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored the game-winning run on a bases-loaded walk by Mike Devino in the bottom of the seventh that gave the Hornets (1-2, 1-1) a walk-off win over the Bucs (0-3, 0-3) - their first victory of the season.

The winning run was the third time DiBona crossed the plate on Monday in four trips to the plate. On the mound, DiBona allowed two unearned runs on two hits and four walks while striking out five in four innings and 82 pitches.

Rob Shangle earned the win with three innings of relief. He allowed one run on four hits and two walks, punched out two and threw 39 pitches.

Ezra Caspi added an RBI single for Holmdel in the win.

Mike Eulner went 2-for-3 with two RBI to lead Red Bank at the plate. Andrew Glauber threw 84 pitches in four innings of work while Nick Quaranta took the loss with 2 1/3 innings and 42 pitches.

 

Class A South

Toms River East 8, Brick Memorial 2

Brad Brush went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI and sophomore Matt Santos (3-2, 0-1) pitched a six-hitter to help lead the Raiders (3-0, 3-0) to their third straight win to open the season.

Santos (2-0) allowed one earned run on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts in twirling his first career complete game.

Danny Clemente, Ryan Goodall and Aidan Meola each went 2-for-4, with Goodall and Meola scoring a run each and Clemente knocking in two. Meola - starting as a freshman - has collected two hits in each of his first three high school games.

Senior Ahmir Cournier went 1-for-5 with two RBI, Jay Longo was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and Jared Mizrachi also went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Nick Gillen went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI, his third and fourth doubles of the season.

Trevor Sherman took the loss on the mound, allowing four runs - two earned - on eight hits, one walk and four strikeouts on 76 pitches after striking out 11 with no walks in his first start of the season.

No. 7 Toms River North 17, Southern 3

Senior Jared Bellissimo belted two home runs and drove in seven runs to lead a Mariners (3-2, 2-1) rout against the Rams (0-4, 0-3). Bellissimo also tripled and scored four runs.

Prior to Monday, Bellissimo did not have any home runs in his career and by the end of the game, he found himself tied with two other players for the Shore Conference in round-trippers in 2018.

Robert Jeans was 2-for-4 with three RBI, Craig Larsen went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored, and Alex Klalo was 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored for Toms River North.

Jon Giordano worked 4 2/3 innings for the win and fired 72 pitches. Giordano allowed one run on three hits while walking three and striking out four. Chris Wood pitched the final 1 1/3 innings and threw 29 pitches.

Aiden Hoszzu was 2-for-3 with a double, A.J. Mandell drove in two runs and Marcos Matias added a double and a run scored for Southern.

Shane Gibson beat out an infield single in the bottom of the seventh inning, pushing home Jordan Erbe with the winning run and giving the Indians a win over the Green Dragons - their first of the season.

Mike Brunner tied the game in the top of the fifth inning for Brick with a two-run single to right field.

Liam Meyer went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI to lead a 10-run effort by the Titans (2-1, 2-0) that was enough to get by the Blue Bishops (0-2, 0-2).

Connor Graf was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Gabe Torres was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, and Joe Osterbye added an RBI double for Keansburg.

Rian Rivera went the distance on the mound to pick up the win, allowing four earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out nine.

Devin Nash-McGee went 1-for-3 with an RBI for Asbury Park.

 

Point Beach 8, Henry Hudson 1

Three Point Beach pitchers combined on a three-hitter with 15 strikeouts and the Garnet Gulls (2-1, 2-0) topped the Admirals (0-3, 0-2).

John Nista and Kenny MacPherson each three two hitless innings before Matt VanBrunt came on to strike out seven in three innings while allowing one earned run.

Josh Yates was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI to lead the Garnet Gulls offense. Aidan Conway was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI and Jude Lovegren finished 1-for-3 with two RBI for Point Beach.

Josh Winters was 1-for-1 with two walks, a double and an RBI for Henry Hudson. Mike Mohr went 1-for-2 with a run scored and took the loss with four innings of work.

James Johns and Jagger Karaska combined on a three-hitter and Evan Scala and Ryan Costello each went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI to lead the Hawks (3-1, 3-1) past the Panthers (1-2, 1-2).

Johns also went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Markel Hourigan was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored for Manchester.

Johns allowed three runs - one earned - on two hits and two walks over four innings while striking out four on 69 pitches. Karaska tossed three scoreless innings on 61 pitches to earn the save.

Losing pitcher Sam Collins went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Point Boro while throwing 65 pitches in four innings.

 

Barnegat 12, Donovan Catholic 1

Junior David MacGillivray connected on a home run in the first inning to highlight an offensive outburst by the Bengals (1-3, 1-2) against the Griffins (1-3, 0-3), which propelled Barnegat to its first win of the year.

MacGillivray added an RBI double and Liam Corbett knocked in a pair of runs with an RBI single and an RBI double.
