Baseball Monday Scoreboard, 4/17/17
Class A North
No. 3 CBA 6, Howell 5 (10 Innings)
Sophomore Spencer Bauer came through with a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning and the Colts (7-1, 5-1) upended the Rebels (2-5, 1-5) in extra innings. Senior Nick Hohenstein got the inning started with a double and scored on Bauer's hit after Howell elected to intentionally walk junior Andrea Dalatri.
CBA tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with a sacrifice fly by Dalatri, which pushed the game to the eighth inning.
Howell scored five unearned runs in the third inning off Hohenstein, who settled in and struck out nine while allowing a walk and 10 hits over seven innings.
Bauer finished with a pair of hits and two RBI, including on of CBA's four doubles. Junior John Dudek and sophomore Tommy DiTullio also doubled for the Colts.
Junior Matt Barnes pitched three perfect innings of relief with three strikeouts to pick up the win.
Senior J.P. Traynor went 4-for-5 with two RBI for Howell while junior Nick Ruszczyk was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI.
Class A Central
Raritan 3, St. John Vianney 0
Senior Matt Birdsall pitched a one-hit shutout and the Rockets (7-1, 5-0) topped the Lancers (2-4, 1-4) to remain unbeaten in Class A Central play. Birdsall struck out five, walked four and threw 97 pitches. Senior Seamus Coyle singled in the second inning for St. John Vianney's only hit.
Raritan scored all three of its runs in the top of the seventh, with junior Alex Lammatina breaking the tie on an RBI single to score sophomore Tyler Bruno. Sophomores Jake Tennant and Tim Hayes also checked in with RBI singles in the seventh.
Lammatina finished 2-for-4, Bruno was 3-for-4 and senior Ken Friend also went 2-for-4.

Sophomore Ezra Caspi singled home senior Alex DiBona with the the winning run in the bottom of the seventh and the Hornets (2-5, 2-3) won a wild, high-scoring affair against the Bulldogs (2-7, 2-3).
DiBona tied the game with a two-run double with none out in the seventh and with the bases loaded and one out, Caspri lined a shot that cleared the center fielder and allowed DiBona to breeze home with the winning run.
Junior Sal Monticciolo started the seventh-inning rally with a double and finished 3-for-4.
Class A South
Brick 7, Brick Memorial 3
Brick scored three runs on bases loaded walks in the bottom of the sixth and senior A.J. Serrino added an RBI single in the four-run inning as the Green Dragons (5-1, 2-0) pulled out a win over the Mustangs (2-6, 1-4).
Senior Matt Stadelberger opened the Brick scoring with a two-run triple and scored on an RBI single by John Prato to give the Green Dragons a 3-1 lead in the second.
Senior Jayden Tisseker earned the win in relief of starter Mike Soldo, who struck out 17 in his last outing. Tisseker allowed two hits in three scoreless innings while striking out three.
Junior Blain Netterman was 2-for-4 with a double with a run scored and junior Mike Sullivan went 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI for Brick Memorial.

Junior Garrett French twirled a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and accounted for the only run of the game when he tripled and scored on an errant throw to third base in the second inning to carry the Lions to a win over the Green Wave.
No. 2 Monmouth 6, No. 10 Middletown South 3
Sophomore Dante Ciaramella pitched a complete game and went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored to lead the Falcons (7-1, 5-1) to a win over the Eagles (4-3, 2-3) that prolongs their strong start to begin the season. Ciaramella allowed two earned runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out four and throwing 96 pitches.
Monmouth took control of the game with a four-run fourth inning, during which the Falcons drew four walks, were hit twice and benefitted from two errors to score four times without a hit.
Junior Joe Sprake went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI to lead the Middletown South offense.
No. 5 Wall 6, No. 9 Ocean 4
Sophomores Grant Schulman and David Howarth delivered key hits in a six-run second inning that carried the Crimson Knights (6-2, 4-2) to a win over the Spartans (4-3, 2-2). Schulman swatted an RBI double in the second and Howarth capped the rally with a two-run single.
Howarth finished 2-for-3 at the plate and senior Kevin Lenneper was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
Freshman Teddy Sharkey pitched three scoreless innings of relief with five strikeouts and no walks to preserve a win for reliever Jason Horowitz who took over for starter Matt Yard with one out in the fourth. Yard threw 84 pitches.
Losing pitcher Max Winters went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI to lead Ocean and threw 57 pitches in two innings before turning the ball over to junior Mark Butler. Butler and Steven Hagerman combined on four shutout innings of relief to keep the Spartans in the game.
Class B Central
Henry Hudson 8, Keansburg 7
Senior Brendan Carlstrom, senior Tom Colantino and sophomore Tim Farrell each drove in a run and the Admirals (4-1, 3-1) upended the Titans (1-5, 1-3) for their third straight win. Sophomore Matt Payne threw two one-hit innings of scoreless relief with three strikeouts and no walks to earn the win.
Senior Ryan Dogler allowed three earned runs on six hits in five innings for Henry Hudson while walking two, striking out seven and throwing 106 pitches. Senior Matt Gibney took the loss for Keansburg and threw 99 pitches.
Keyport 8, Ranney 3
Junior Colin Fernandez pitched six strong innings and freshman Roan Maxwell went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI to lead the Red Raiders (1-4, 1-3) past the Panthers (0-5, 0-4) for their first win of the season.
Fernandez allowed one earned run on five hits and five walks with nine strikeouts on 111 pitches and added some offense with a 2-for-2 day at the plate. Senior Jackon Aumack was also 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Cody Young was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
Sophomore Ryan Batista went 1-for-2 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI to lead Ranney.

Senior Pat Barrett was also 2-for-3 with two RBI, junior Joe Colonna was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI, junior Austin Pharo was 1-for-2 with two RBI, and senior Joey Robertson finished 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI.
Zach Fillmore, Andrew Luongo and Barrett combined on the shutout.
