Brick Regional (Pool 1A)

At Brick American, Lanes Mill Road

Jackson Jaguars (Jackson Mem.) 14, Dragons Baseball (Brick) 1 (5 innings)

Tom Cartnick jump-started an offensive onslaught with a three-run home run in the bottom of the first and the Jaguars coasted to a win over the Dragons.

All 10 players in Jackson’s starting lineup scored a run, as did reserves Austin Parikh Jared Caruso. Cartnick finished 1-for-2 with a walk, three RBI and two runs scored while senior first baseman Carmine Petosa singled, walked, reached on a hit-by-pitch and scored twice. Senior Zach Appuliese went 1-for-1 with a walk and three RBI and senior third baseman Jake Wendell also had a strong afternoon by going 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBI.

The Jags’ pitching was also on point. Sophomore Zach Crotchfelt, an Auburn recruit, got the start and went two innings allowing only one walk and striking out three. Rocco Lavista want the next 1 2/3 innings and Devin Foderaro pitched the final 1 1/3 innings. Brick’s lone run came on a sacrifice fly by senior Nick Guiro that plated junior Jesse Evensen in the top of the fifth inning.

Mustangs Baseball (Brick Mem) 5, Liberty Lions (Jackson Liberty) 4 (12 Innings)

Tim Quackenboss scored the winning run on an error in the top of the 12th and the Mustangs won a marathon against the Lions.

Liberty tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run double by Brandon Kinsman.

For Brick Memorial, senior Nick Gillen went 5 1/3 innings while allowing four hits and four runs (one earned), walking two and striking out nine. Senior Kyle Cline entered after Gillen surrendered the 2-run double to Kinsman and was great over 6 2/3 of scoreless relief, fanning four and allowing only one hit.

 

Tri-County Regional (Pool 1B)

At FirstEnergy Park, Lakewood

Monmouth Monarchs (Manalapan) 3, R’Ville Ravens (Robbinsville) 2

Marc Rivera ended a bases-loaded threat in the second with a strikeout, Nick DiPietrantonio and Chris Marzo picked up an RBI each and sophomore Tyler Kane struck out all six batters he faced to close the game out and propel the Monarchs into a meeting with Allentown on Wednesday in Lakewood.

After Rivera escaped the second, Tom Guidice led off the fourth with a long double to center and scored on DiPietrantonio's game-tying RBI single. The Monarchs took the lead in the fifth, when Ethan Rodriguez walked, stole second and scored on a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt by Dylan Hode. Marzo added his sacrifice fly to cap the fifth.

Justin Cofone's single in the bottom of the fifth inning cleared the bases to give the Knights the lead and complete a come-from behind win.

The Bears took two different four-run leads at 4-0 and 6-2. Nick LoVarco highlighted a two-run first for Wall with a sacrifice fly and Jay Bant and Matt Croson each notched an RBI single to chop the deficit to 6-4.

Cofone ripped a two-RBI single to plate the tying runs and the winning run scored on an error on the same play.

Wall's win sets up a showdown with host the host Lincroft Colts Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Freehold Regional (Pool 2B)

At Hockhockson Park, Tinton Falls

Middletown North 10, Columbia Blue (Freehold Twp.) 4

Ryan Rozinski struck out nine in five shutout innings and Middletown North blasted three home runs to ignite a win over top-seeded Columbia Blue.

Andrew Lombardi and Colin Dowlen each launched a solo home run and Danny Frontera crushed a grand slam to lead the winning offense.

Blue and Gold (Marlboro) 3, Monmouth Dogfish (Freehold Boro) 2

Jeremy Diskin plated the winning run with a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh and the Blue and Gold rallied from a two-run deficit in the final two innings to advance to a winner's-game matchup with Middletown North Wednesday at 10 a.m.

RBC 6, Long Branch Green Wave 4

Dan DeFlores hit a go-ahead grand slam in a six-run sixth inning that helped RBC rally past upset-minded Long Branch. Jack Scrivanic also cracked a two-run double in the inning for RBC.

Thomas Wright pitched six no-hit innings with 10 strikeouts and RBI Baseball finished off a combined no-hitter.

Matteo Pasculli added a solo home run in a 2-for-3 game at the plate, while Dominic Cerniglia was 2-for-4 with a double. Jacob Ramirez also added a double and Robert Lehan cracked a triple in the win.

Blue and Grey (Howell) 2, Monmouth Regional 0

Max Friedeman and sophomore Nick Gomes combined on a one-hit shutout and Chris Acampora took care of the offense with a two-run single in the fourth as the Blue and Grey edged Monmouth in a pitcher's duel.

Tommy Talbot and Antonio Gatti got the fourth-inning rally started with singles and came home on Acampora's deciding hit.

Friedeman allowed one hit over three-plus innings and struck out six. Gomes did not surrender a hit and struck out four. The Blue and Grey will take on RBI Baseball at 2 p.m. at the St. Rose Complex.

Barnegat Regional (Pool 8A)

At Barnegat High School

B Baseball (Barnegat) 3, Southern 2

Justin Bye and Lukas Torres each scored on wild pitched in the bottom of the fifth and host B Baseball rode a four-man pitching performance to a win over Southern.

Matt Vernieri cruised through his first three innings before surrendering two runs in his fourth and final inning of work. He allowed one earned run on one hit and two walks while punching out nine.

Left-hander Colin Zarekiewicz followed with two-plus scoreless frames and Ryan Kulpa came on to record one out thanks to his catcher Luke Bush throwing out a runner attempting to steal. Nick Danbrowney closed out the win by starting an unconventional 1-4-5 double-play.

Barnegat jumped on top with an RBI ground out by Danbrowney to score Matt Scott, who walked and advanced to third on a single by Sean Lucas.

Southern took the lead on a two-out, two-run single by Aiden Hosszu that just eluded the glove of a diving Torres in right-centerfield.

The Panthers plated five in the first and six in the fourth to run away from the rival Gulls.

After Beach took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Kyle Fisher tied it up with an RBI double after freshman Connor Cilento led off the rally with a single. A bases-loaded walk and a wild pitch made it 3-1 before Luke Severio capped the inning with a two-out, two-run single.

Sam Young keyed the six-run fourth with a bases-clearing double and Oscar Scott followed with a two-run double. Catcher Ryan Jasaitis added an RBI single to complete the scoring.

Joe Payne doubled twice and drove in three to lead Donovan Catholic to a resounding win over Tuckerton-Little Egg Harbor.

Tyler Hmielewski also singled, doubled and drove in three while Gavin Degnan stroked a two-run doubled during Donovan's eight-run first inning.

Donovan used one pitcher per inning, with Matt Weeden opening the game with a scoreless first.

Central Baseball 3, TR East Raiders 1

Shane Sajewicz hit a tie-breaking, two-run single in the top of the sixth and Central outlasted the top-seeded Raiders to earn a winner's game against Donovan Catholic on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Leiter Field.

Starting pitcher Dan Greene worked a bases-loaded walk earlier in the sixth to tie the score at 1-1. Mike Masino came on for Greene in the bottom of the fifth and earned the win in relief.

Akkesh Santiago came through with a pinch-hit double to break a scoreless deadlock in the bottom of the fifth for TR East.

 

Wall Regional (Pool 15A)

At North Wall Little League

MS Baseball (Middletown South) 12, Jersey Shore Monsters (Shore) 0

Mike Keenan fired 4 1/3 one-hit innings and struck out seven to star on the mound for MS Baseball in a Last-Dance-opener win.

Matt Pontari crushed a home run in the victory, while Chris O'Connor and Mike Cowell each went 1-for-2 with two RBI, with O'Connor doubling for his hit.

Midd South vs Shore

Cougars Baseball (Colts Neck) 10, Holmdel 4

Chase Masterson went the distance, allowing five hits while striking out five, as the Cougars topped Holmdel.

Collin Kratzer, Dan Cowles and Brad Salamone each went 3-for-3 for Colts Neck, with Salamone driving in three and Kratzer and Cowles each scoring three times. Kratzer also doubled, Cowles drove in a run and Dave Cohen added a double and two RBI in the win.

Jason Sparkes went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI for Holmdel.

Ocean Township Regional

At Wanamassa Fireman’s Field, Neptune City

RFH Bulldogs 4, Hazlet Renegades (Raritan) 3

Thomas Elgrim and Brian Doherty each crushed two-run extra-base hits in a four-run Rumson fourth and pitchers Kevin Shanes and freshman John Goodes held down the fort to help the Dawgs advance.

Elgrim smoked a two-run double to right-center field and Doherty followed with a two-run triple to deep right, staking RFH to a 4-0 lead.

The Renegades chipped away, cutting the deficit to 4-2 on a Justin Rivera two-run single in the fifth. Hazlet inched a run closer in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by catcher Jason Lind.

After giving up a run in the first of his two innings of work, Goodes pitched a 1-2-3 seventh to earn the save, including a pair of strikeouts.

Matawan 7, OT Baseball (Ocean) 3

Catcher Griffin Falco picked up RBI singles in the fifth and seventh innings and Mike Caldon drove in a run to go with his three innings of hitless relief as Matawan upended host OT Baseball.

Caldon allowed one earned run, struck out two and was an out away from closing out the game when he injured his right hamstring and had to leave the game. Christian Rivera - who finished 2-for-4 with an RBI at the plate - recorded the final out for Matawan.

Nick Callano drove in two of Ocean's three runs with RBI singles in the second and fourth innings.

Matawan takes on RFH at 3:30 p.m. at Fireman's Park.
