PISCATAWAY — Brick had its bid for an eighth sectional title denied as Allentown made its own history with a 41-6 win in the Central Jersey Group IV final on Saturday afternoon at Rutgers University.

The Redbirds (10-2) opened a 27-0 halftime lead and never looked back on their way to winning the first state title in program history.  Allentown’s dynamic offense rolled up 328 yards rushing on 59 carries with running backs Joe Mannino and Aydon Chavis and quarterback Jordan Winston each rushing for over 100 yards. Winston ran for two touchdowns and threw for another, Mannino and Chavis had one touchdown each and Jha’Quel Brown returned an interception 42 yards for a touchdown.

Mannino led all players with 136 yards rushing on 22 carries while Chavis had 106 yards on 12 carries and Winston ran for 103 yards on 19 carries.

Brick’s lone score came in the fourth quarter after Allentown had taken a 41-0 lead. Senior quarterback Anthony Costanza connected with sophomore Jimmy Leblo on a 42-yard touchdown pass. Costanza completed 11 of 14 passes for 135 yards and senior Ja’Sir Taylor had 108 total yards between rushing, receiving and passing.

The Dragons finished the season 8-4.
