Sophomore running back Ashante Worthy and senior quarterback Jake Curry each ran for a pair of touchdowns and the Freehold (2-1, 2-1) defense held off a late rally by the Middletown North (2-1, 1-1) for a 26-20 Shore Conference Class A North victory on Saturday afternoon.

Worth ran for a 28-yard touchdown and a 19-yard touchdown in the first quarter, and Curry had a 2-yard touchdown in the second quarter and a 1-yard score in the third as Freehold built a 26-0 lead.

Middletown North played without senior standout Chad Freshnock, who was injured last week against Marlboro. The Lions began to rally late in the third quarter on a 65-yard touchdown pass from Donald Glenn to Brendan Kube. Demetrius Redway scored on a 3-yard run to make it 26-14 late in the third and Glenn found Kube again for a 4-yard score with just over four minutes left in regulation.
