Every week this spring, Shore Sports Network will be selecting the WindMill Boys Lacrosse Team of the Week based on its performance over the past week.

The SSN Boys Lacrosse Team of the Week for Week 4 is Shore Regional, which earned an important top-10 victory that improved its seed for the upcoming Shore Conference Tournament and continued what has been another solid season in West Long Branch. Shore Sports Network was at practice on Tuesday to present the Blue Devils and head coach Gregg Malfa with a special framed Team of the Week certificate and a WindMill gift card.

Shore took care of business in a Class B North game to start the week by overwhelming winless Neptune, 24-2. Then came an intriguing nondivisional game against Southern Regional, which entered the game ranked No. 5 in the SSN Top 10 with the Blue Devils ranked No. 8.

The game was tied after the first quarter before the Blue Devils took the lead and methodically pulled away. They took a two-goal lead into the fourth quarter and outscored the Rams in the final period for a 10-5 victory. Standout junior midfielder Jamie Mazzacco led the way with four goals and three assists and senior face-off specialist Sean O'Brien had a big game at the X by winning 16 of 20 draws and picking up 16 ground balls. Andrew Decker scored twice, Carson Cooke and Carson Spallone each had a goal and an assist and Aidan Murphy and Sam Madalone had one goal each. Sophomore goalie Walker Hunter stood tall in goal with 15 saves to backstop the important victory.

Shore's impact players are mostly underclassmen and they have spread the production, offensively, this season. Mazzacco leads the team with 33 points on 19 goals and 14 assists while Madalone, a freshman, leads in goals with 20 (along with 10 assists for 30 points). Cooke (14g, 14a), senior Corey Moeller (7g, 13a) and Spallone (8g, 8a) have each made significant contributions. O'Brien has been excellent in winning 80 percent of his face-offs while picking up 107 ground balls. Hunter has posted a fantastic 71 percent save percentage and made 77 saves.

The Blue Devils are 6-3 through Tuesday, May 18, with their conference losses coming to No. 1 Rumson-Fair Haven and No. 6 Middletown South. The win over Southern was their best of the season so far and they also have a win over a solid Red Bank Regional team. Shore will host a dangerous Holmdel team in a Class B North game on Wednesday before turning its attention to the Shore Conference Tournament, which will be seeded on Wednesday night and commence on Friday. The Blue Devils also have divisional games remaining against Ocean and Red Bank Catholic.
