American Division

Manasquan 13, Shore 6

Junior attackman Brandon Kunz struck for a career-high seven points on four goals and three assists and senior midfielder Brody Muly sank four goals to send the Warriors (2-0, 1-0) past the Blue Devils (0-1, 0-1) in a divisional matchup in West Long Branch.

The game was tied 2-2 at the end of the first quarter before Manasquan opened a 7-3 halftime advantage and a 9-4 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Sophomore attackman Ryan Aldi had a hat trick while senior goalie Nick Bounassi made 11 saves. Senior midfielder Joe Carabetta and junior midfielder Matt Schneider each had a goal and an assist.

Junior midfielder Lukas Villa had a goal and an assist and senior goalie Noah Karaban made eight saves for Shore. Junior midfielder Tucker Malfa, senior attackman Brady Cooke, sophomore attackman Reid Spalone, sophomore midfielder John Mazzacco, and freshman attackman Brady McHugh each scored once.

Red Bank Catholic 15, Howell 5

Senior attackman Jackson Lu scored a career-high five goals and assisted on another and senior goalie Gianvito Viola made 11 saves to lead the Caseys (1-0, 1-0) past the Rebels (0-1, 0-1) at Count Basie Field.

Senior attackman Peter Villare tallied three goals and two assists, freshman midfielder Joe Egan notched a hat trick, and sophomore midfielder Frank Tackett had two goals and one assist. Senior midfielder Brian Vecchio had a goal and an assist, won 16 of 23 face-offs, and picked up 15 ground balls. Freshman attackman Thomas Muniz scored once.

Junior midfielder Vin Meehan had two goals and one assist to lead Howell while senior attackman Jon Peal Pepe scored once and sophomore midfielder Cole Reinsdorf and freshman attackman Owen Marich each scored their first varsity goal.

Colts Neck 16, Long Branch 0

Junior Tyler Bowden scored six goals and added three assists to set career-highs in goals and points and lead the Cougars (1-0, 1-0) to a victory over the Green Wave (0-1, 0-1).

Luke Ferraro added two goals and three assists, Brent DeThomasis had two goals and two assists, Jayden Molina had two goals and one assist, and Luke Petino had a goal and two assists. Tyler Roth and Tesio Carabello each had a goal and an assist and Chris Dalby scored once. Aaron Nasimov made one save to earn the shutout.

Oscar Lemuz-Garrido made six saves for Long Branch.

 

Ocean 15, Marlboro 3

Senior midfielder Ben Girard scored five goals and added three assists and sophomore attackman Connor Holevinski also scored five times to power the Spartans (2-0, 1-0) past the Mustangs (0-1, 0-1).

Senior defenseman Matthew Mosey had two goals and one assist, sophomore attackman Jack Varley scored twice, and sophomore defenseman Mickey McGovern tallied a goal and two assists. junior attackman Vincent Stolowski chipped in with two assists while junior pole John McLaren led the defensive effort.

 

Freehold Township 13, Neptune 1

Sophomore Andrew Dalton registered a hat trick and senior attackman Nick Carnevale tallied a goal and four assists to lead the Patriots (1-1, 1-0) past the Scarlet Fliers (0-1, 0-1) and give head coach Corey Rutenberg his first career victory.

Senior midfielder Conor Monroe and junior attackman Chris Chinnici each scored twice and junior midfielder Patrick Wicke had a goal and an assist. Senior attackman Nolan Thompson, junior midfielder Nate Reiser, junior defenseman Braeden Larkin, and junior attackman Zach Greenberg each scored once.

Freedom Division

Donovan Catholic 19, St. Rose 2

Senior attackman Jack Farlekas scored a career-high eight goals to power the Griffins to a season-opening victory over the Purple Roses.

Freshman attackman Gavin Nascimento tallied three goals and five assists plus a team-high six ground balls, and senior midfielder Andrew Baltus totaled three goals and four assists while going 13-for-17 at the face-off X. Sophomore attackman David Wentworth and junior attackman Jake Kerwin each had two goals and one assist and junior midfielder Lucas Bova had a goal and an assist. Sophomore Jack Barone made six saves in goal to earn the win.

 

Lacey 13, Toms River South 7

Sophomore attackman Braedyn Gialanella scored a career-high six goals and added two assists and junior goalie Nicholas Vetter made 18 saves to lead the Lions (1-0, 1-0) to a victory over the Indians (0-1, 0-1).

Sophomore attackman Ryan Gleason registered three goals and three assists and junior attackman Corey Smith had a goal and three assists while freshman attackman Luke Miller scored twice. Sophomore midfielder Alex Barneman scored once, sophomore midfielder Jonathan Price had two assists, and junior LSM Derek Hurley had an assist and a team-high 13 ground balls.
