Rumson-Fair Haven 15, Southern 0

Sophomore attackman Luke Lydon and senior midfielder Leo Passalaqua each delivered four goals and one assist and senior face-off specialist Luke Marascio went 11-for-12 at the X and scored a goal as the Bulldogs opened their season with an impressive victory over the Rams.

Senior midfielder Andy Croddick added two goals and one assist while sophomore midfielder Joseph Whitehouse, junior midfielder Nick French, and senior midfielders Britt Lumsden and Alastair Orr scored one goal apiece. Junior goalie Mickey Walker made six saves to earn the shutout in his first varsity start.

Rumson scored three times in the final minute of the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead before extending its advantage to 10-0 at halftime and 12-0 entering the fourth quarter.

 

Nonconference

CBA 7, Bergen Catholic 6 (OT)

Junior midfielder Davis Campbell sank the game-winning goal with 2:25 left in overtime as the Colts rallied to score the final three goals and earn a dramatic victory over the Crusaders to start their season.

CBA trailed 6-4 entering the fourth quarter before goals by senior attackman Ryan Martin and junior defenseman Quinn Kelly tied the score and forced overtime. Kelly's game-tying goal was unassisted with 7:18 left in regulation.

Martin scored a game-high three goals and Campbell scored twice. Kelly had a goal and an assist and freshman midfielder John Little scored once and went 7-for-13 at the face-off X. Senior goalie Brandon DeSena made six saves.

CBA led 3-2 after the first quarter and 4-3 at halftime.

Senior attackman Jake Taromina had two goals and one assist, senior midfielder Jimmy Carey had three assists, and senior goalie Parker Day made 13 saves to lead Bergen Catholic. Sophomore midfielder Luke Bohen, senior attackman Jack Tenaglia, junior defenseman Nate Johnston, and senior midfielder Anderson Chong each scored once.

 

Red Bank 18, Old Bridge 6

Senior midfielder Andrew Pape tied a career-high with 10 points on five goals and five assists and sophomore attackman Gabe Pape registered four goals and one assist as the Bucs cruised to a victory over the Knights.

Pape also had 10 points as a freshman when he had four goals and six assists in a win over St. John Vianney. His five goals tied a career-high set as a sophomore and his five assists set a new career-best mark. Gabe Pape's four goals and five points also set career-highs.

Senior Finn Tierney and junior attackman Jack Tavares both scored three goals and senior Kyle Borenius made 12 saves in goal to earn the win. Junior midfielder Kevin Ruland, freshman Justin Valentino, and junior midfielder Will Odgen each scored once and senior defenseman Matt Kelly picked up five ground balls.
