No. 6 Southern 10, No. 5 Shore 8

Senior attackman Hayden Lucas delivered four goals and two assists, senior midfielder Joey DeYoung tallied three goals and two assists, and the goalie tandem of Nick Roesch and AJ Mattern combined to make 17 saves as the Rams (5-1) went on the road and clipped the Blue Devils (4-1) in an entertaining matchup between ranked teams.

Neither team led by more than two goals at any point of the game. Southern led 3-1 after the first quarter but Shore rallied to tie the score, 4-4, at halftime. Southern pulled ahead for an 8-7 lead entering the fourth quarter and goals by Lucas and junior middie Anthony Arch put the Rams over the top.

Roesch, a junior, made six saves in the first half and Mattern, a sophomore, stopped 11 shots in the second half, including several clutch saves in the fourth quarter. Arch and sophomores Liam Griffin and Joe Kessler each scored once.

Junior midfielder Sam Madalone had three goals and two assists and senior Ben Levy had a goal and three assists to lead Shore. Carson Spallone tallied two goals and one assist, and Lucas White and Lucas Villa each scored once. It was another strong game at the face-off X for the sophomore tandem of Tucker Malfa and Brendan O'Brien, who combined to go 16-for-22. Malfa went 10-for-12 and O'Brien went 6-for-10. Noah Karaban made seven saves in goal.

 

No. 7 Holmdel 14, Manalapan 2

Senior attackman Kyle Kapcsos scored four goals and added three assists and junior midfielder Will Gilfillan tallied three goals and four assists to send the Hornets (4-1) past the Braves (3-1).

Gary Collyer also notched a hat trick while Finnegan Buchan had two goals and one assist and Dylan Lagana scored twice. Jack Powers won 12 of 16 face-offs and picked up 11 ground balls and Andrew Arredondo made seven saves.

Christian Zdziarski and Marc Stefanelli scored goals and Connor Doel (8 saves) and Antonio Santana (2 saves) shared time in goal.

 

No. 8 Middletown South 11, Red Bank Catholic 10

Senior midfielder Beau Servidio had a huge game with five goals, one assist, and 14 face-off wins to lead the Eagles (3-1) to a thrilling victory over the Caseys (2-3).

Steve Kirchner added three goals and one assist and Nick Wisnewski scored once. Colin Gallagher and Ethan Platzke had two assists each and Lucas Campos made seven saves in goal to earn the win.

RBC senior midfielder Sam Fertal matched Servidio with five goals and one assist while senior midfielder Torin Harmon totaled a goal and five assists. Peter Villare had two goals and one assist, Jack Lu scored twice, and Leo Cosimano had one assist. Gianvito Viola (10 saves) and Christian Schraeder (6 saves) shared time in goal. Nick Cosimano picked up a team-high 10 ground balls and Connor Harms collected nine ground balls.

 

No. 10 Barnegat 5, Ocean 3

Sophomore midfielder Luke Tortorici tallied a goal, three assists, and seven ground balls and senior goalie Lucas Holland made 10 saves to propel the Bengals (5-1) to a hard-fought win over the Spartans (1-6) in a defensive battle.

Keegan Dunn and Seth Freiwald each scored twice and Antonio Fusco won 8 of 11 face-offs for Barnegat.

Junior midfielder Ben Girard scored all three goals for Ocean.

 

Middletown North 4, St. Rose 3

Hayden Mattos delivered two goals and one assist and Jake Cerrato made nine saves as the Lions (3-2) won a defensive battle with the Purple Roses (0-4).

Reece O'Brien and Tommy Finnegan each scored once and Nick Barry chipped in with one assist.

 

Jackson Memorial 17, Colts Neck 6

Emanuel Jastrzebski continued his outstanding freshman season with two goals and eight assists and junior attackman Drew Barocas scored six times and assisted on three others to power the Jaguars (4-0) to a victory over the Cougars (1-4).

Justin Perillo also had a big game with five goals while Elias Craig dished out five assists. Charlie Gumina had a goal and two assists, Alex Ariel scored once, and Zack O'Connell won 17 of 22 face-offs. Elijah Coffman picked up a game-high 12 ground balls.

Sophomore Tyler Bowden led Colts Neck with three goals and two assists. Sean Perkinson added a goal and an assist, Jack Dodd and Ethan Sloane each scored once, and Aaron Nasimov made nine saves.

 

Jackson Liberty 11, Toms River South 6

Junior attackman Paul Capozzi sank three goals and dealt five assists and junior goalie Matthew LaBianca made 18 saves to steer the Lions (2-2) past the Indians (1-5).

Reece Stewart also scored three times and added one assist, Jeffery White had two goals and one assist, and Billy Schuler scored twice. Peter Abline had a goal and an assist.

Brady Derome scored three goals and added one assist to lead Toms River South. Nicholas Romaine scored twice, Michael Desiderio and Ben Hartzfeld each scored once, and Cal Narvaez had two assists. Nicholas Mueller made nine saves in goal and Steve Lindemann won 12 of 21 face-offs.

 

Freehold Township 11, St. John Vianney 10

Senior midfielder Jaden Buckley tallied three goals and one assist and sophomore goalie Junior Alvarado stood tall with 16 saves as the Patriots (2-2) held on to nip the Lancers (2-4).

The game was tied 2-2 after the first quarter before Freehold Township scored six times in the second quarter to forge an 8-3 halftime lead. St. John Vianney rallied with seven goals in the second half, including four in the fourth quarter, but the Patriots were able to hang on for the one-goal victory.

Nolan Thompson scored twice and assisted on another while Aidan Harrington had a goal and two assists. Brenden Carfagno, Jacob Nastarowicz, Conor Monro, Nick Carnevale, and Braeden Larkin all scored once.

Nick Galamb scored four goals and Khush Mehta had two goals and two assists to lead St. John Vianney. Ian Butler added two goals and one assist, Brendan Allen scored once, and Max Menkowitz had a goal to go along with a 20-for-24 day at the face-off X. Jacob Volk made seven saves.

 

Brick 16, Long Branch 1

Travis Trempy registered a hat trick and Travis Hickman totaled two goals and two assists as the Dragons (3-4) used 10 different goal-scorers to defeat the Green Wave (0-7).

Zack Wagner had two goals and one assist, James Hirtes had a goal and two assists, RJ Lutkiewicz and Donovan Iannarone each scored twice, and Cailean Connolly had a goal and an assist. Leo McConnell, Alex Azevedo, and Kurt Wiebolt each scored once and Ryan Kurc made two saves.

 

Lacey 7, Toms River North 4

Sophomore attackman Corey Smith scored all three of his goals during a five-goal outburst in the first quarter for the Lions (3-4), who used that early barrage to defeat the Mariners (1-4) in a nondivisional game in Lacey.

Smith finished with three goals and two assists while senior Chad Moore made 12 saves in goal. Braedyn Gialanella scored twice and assisted on another and Diego Wolf scored once. Derek Hurley picked up a game-high 13 ground balls and Jayden Martins collected eight ground balls.

Senior attackman Nick Walano led Toms River North with three goals and senior goalie Evan Singer recorded 14 saves. Cooper Lachowicz added a goal and two assists.

 

 

Nonconference

Central 16, J.P. Stevens 8

Senior midfielder Jahaziel Garcia scored a career-high five goals and junior Grant Paczkowski also had a career day with three goals and five assists to power the Golden Eagles (2-4) to a win over Hawks (1-3).

Patrick McNamee sank three goals and assisted on three more and Jake Agugliaro registered two goals and four assists. Stefano Babino and Matt Golizio each had a goal and an assist, Patrick Florek scored once, and Brady Etzkorn had a strong game in goal with 13 saves.

Kevin Savoth led J.P. Stevens with four goals and one assist. Jack Dotoli had three goals and one assist, Matthew Klosek had a goal and four assists, and Nick Johnstone made 13 saves.
