Sophomore attackman Jake Schatz scored the game-winning goal with 1:35 left in overtime to cap a sensational game as the Braves rallied for a sensational victory over the Red Devils for the first state playoff win in program history.
Junior defenseman Aidan Wilmot forced a turnover with a body check, picked up the ground ball, and raced ahead in transition to start the scoring play. He dished it off to junior attackman Anthony Macchio on the wing, who then passed it across to junior attackman Christian Zdziarski, who then fed Schatz on the crease. Schatz powered through multiple Rancocas Valley defenders and bounced a shot into the net to kick off the winning celebration.
Junior midfielder Marc Stefanelli scored a game-high three goals and Macchio had a goal and three assists. Senior midfielder Luke Mann, sophomore midfielder Jason Rinaldi, and sophomore Matt Avici each scored once, and Manalapan also had a goal that resulted from an errant pass into the net by a Rancocas Valley defender. Freshman goalie Connor Doel made nine saves, including one in overtime.
Manalapan will play at No. 1 Eastern in the quarterfinals next week.

Junior midfielder Andrew Pape scored four goals and added one assist, including the 100th goal of his career, but the Bucs (14-4) were defeated by the Indians (17-3) in the first round of the state tournament.
Senior midfielder Ryder Villani scored three goals, senior midfielder Henry Spencer had two goals and one assist, and senior attackman Trey Lynch scored once. Senior goalie Gavin Lisko made 11 saves.
South Group 2

Junior midfielder Sam Madalone scored five goals and senior goalie Walker Hunter made 15 saves, including the 500th of his career, to send the Blue Devils (13-5) past the Pioneers (9-9) in the first round of the state tournament.
Junior attackman Carson Spallone tallied two goals and one assist, senior attackman Ben Levy had a goal and an assist, and senior defenseman Michael Pillari and sophomore freshman Lukas Villa each scored once. Senior midfielder Aidan Murphy added two assists and sophomore FOGOs Brendan O'Brien and Tucker Malfa each won 7 of 9 face-offs.
Shore will play the winner of today's game between No. 2 Glen Ridge and No. 15 Haddon Township.
