Hawks Choice To Three-peat in Christmas Classic
Led by two-time MVP Destiny Adams and point guard Kemari Reynolds Manchester is once again the team to beat among the 16 girls teams participating in the 36th annual WOBM Christmas Classic. The Hawks were the unanimous choice as the top seed as picked by head coaches during the seeding meeting held at The Villa in Toms River and will face Brick Memorial when the girls division opens on Sunday, December 22 at the RWJBarnabas Health Arena at Toms River North.
Coming off a 32-3 season that saw them win the Group 2 championship and advance to the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions, the Hawks of coach Dave Beauchemin also bring back a solid all-around player in Serenity Anderson and some young players expected to make an immediate impact.
Seeded second was Marlboro who lost to Manchester in last year’s WOBM final and returns among others Sammy Jay. The Mustangs open up on December 22 against Central Regional.
The Bucs of Red Bank earned the #3 seed and an opening round date with Point Boro while Manasquan returns to the field and was seeded fourth. The Warriors who won the WOBM title three straight years (2013-15) will face Wall in the opening round.
