Welcome to the 2020 edition of the Shore Sports Network’s top plays, highlighting the most dazzling and exciting moments from Shore Conference football action, brought to you by Jersey Shore Institute of Health and Wellness.

This week we take a look at the top clips from Week 5. We can’t be filming every game at once, so if you have a great clip on Hudl, YouTube, Vimeo or some other service where it can be embedded, or if you have the raw video file, feel free to email me a link at bob.badders@townsquaremedia.com or tweet it to me at @Bob_Badders.

Now, let's take a look at some of the best plays from Week 5.

Matt Mauro, Middletown South

Mauro's big-play abilities have come through in the last couple of weeks. Against Middletown North, he had a pair of touchdowns, including this 55-yard punt return for a touchdown, to help the Eagles win 28-9.

John Vitale, Marlboro

The Mustangs picked up their first win of the season with a 20-13 victory over Howell and Vitale's 63-yard interception return for a touchdown ended up accounting for the winning score.

Sha'Kim Shuler and Kamore Gill, Freehold

The big-play Colonials kept it going in a 41-7 win over Freehold Township with plays like this 77-yard touchdown pass from Shuler to Gill.

Nino Bua and Kelly Beaubrun, Neptune

Bua and Beaubrun connected on touchdowns of 41 and 78 yards in a 25-20 win over Neptune. On the 41-yard score, Bua hangs in the pocket and gets off an off-balance throw just before he gets hit and finds Beaubrun, who does the rest to get into the end zone.

Jake Croce, Point Boro

Croce, a freshman running back, certainly looks like he has a bright future ahead of him for the Panthers. It looks like a Neptune defender has him wrapped up but then he suddenly emerges to break free for a 47-yard touchdown run.

Ray Vender, Manalapan

Manalapan nearly stunned unbeaten Colts Neck, forcing overtime with a late touchdown before eventually falling to the Cougars, 21-14, in the extra session. The Braves were able to tie the score late thanks to this blocked punt and recovery by Vender, which gave Manalapan the ball inside the Colts Neck 10-yard line with one minute left in regulation.

Zach Connallon, Keyport

Point Beach was poised to score the game's first points but Connallon had other ideas, ripping the ball away from the running back and returning it 83 yards to set up a Keyport touchdown in the Red Raiders' 21-0 win.

Savon Myers, Manchester

The Hawks put up over 500 yards of offense in a 45-28 win over Keansburg, but it was actually a non-scoring play that jumped out the most on film. Myers scrambles, breaks numerous tackles, cuts across the field and nearly gets into the end zone on this great 29-yard run. He finished the game with over 300 yards passing and five touchdowns.

Charlie Sasso, Wall

What more can you say about Wall's defense at this point? The Crimson Knights were fantastic in a 21-0 win over Manasquan for their third straight shutout and Sasso, one of their star junior linebackers, was everywhere with 16 tackles and two sacks. Check out this one-handed pulldown of Manasquan quarterback Brett Patten.

Jordan Grey, Toms River North

Grey had a big game in a 35-21 win over Toms River East with 110 yards rushing and a touchdown, a touchdown catch, an interception and this 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.

The Mater Dei Miracle, Part 2

Just like the Seraphs did in 2016 to stun Holy Spirit and win the school's first football state title, Mater Dei pulled off a late-game hook-and-later touchdown to beat Rumson-Fair Haven, 26-19, in a huge matchup of top-five teams. Junior quarterback Alex Brown connected with senior wide receiver Kody Gibbs, who then flipped the ball to senior wideout Naran Buntin, and the Kent State-bound receiver took it the rest of the way for a 57-yard touchdown with just 27 seconds left in the game.
