Welcome to the Week 3 Installment of the Surf Taco Girls Soccer Player of the Week at shoresportsnetwork.com. Eight candidates stood out above the rest over from the period beginning on Sept. 17 and ending Sept. 23 and are listed below. Read about the candidates and vote for the best one to choose this week's Player of the Week. Voting ends on Wednesday at 10 p.m.

Nominees Listed Alphabetically 

Reese Beggs, Brick

The Green Dragons continued their strong showing in 2018 with three wins last week. Once again, their sophomore scorer led the way, tallying six goals in the three games. Beggs rolled up a hat trick in a win over Lakewood, posted two goals and an assist vs. Central, and came through with a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over Jackson Liberty.

Morgan Cupo, Red Bank Catholic

Pingry was riding high after beating Group IV power and rival Ridge, but Cupo and the Caseys sent the Big Blue crashing back to Earth. Cupo scored two goal and assisted another in Red Bank Catholic’s impressive 5-1 win over Pingry on Sunday, which followed up a goal she scored in a 2-1 win over Ocean earlier in the week.

Sunni DiElmo, Pinelands

The Wildcats sophomore had a hand in all five goals scored by her team last week. DiElmo scored two goals and assisted the other in a 3-1 win over Central to open the week and followed it up with a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over Point Pleasant Boro.

Julianne Leskauskas , St. Rose

Leskauskas makes her second appearance as a Player of the Week nominee after a remarkable run last week. The junior recorded a hat trick in three consecutive Purple Roses wins, scored three each vs. Lacey, Ranney and Monmouth Regional. She also finished the prior week with a hat trick against Central, giving her a hat trick in four straight games for 5-1 St. Rose.

Juliana Rettino, Lacey

Rettino was a scoring machine for the Lions over the team’s last three games and Lacey picked up wins in two of them. The sophomore scored a goal and an assist in a loss to St. Rose, then led the way to wins over Donovan Catholic and Central. She recorded a hat trick with an assist against the Griffins and finished off the week with two goals vs. the Golden Eagles.

Lila Rice, Ocean

The Spartans picked up two much-needed wins over Red Bank and Neptune last week, with Rice scoring two goals in each of the victories. The senior also scored a goal against a surging Red Bank Catholic side, but the Spartans came up just short in their upset bid, 2-1.

Sarah Shwahla, Point Beach

Shwahla went from a having a good week to a great one with her performance against Donovan Catholic. After scoring a goal vs. Mater Dei and a goal and an assist in a win over Keyport, Shwahla turned in a career effort with four goals in a win over the Griffins.

Victoria Tzitzis, Marlboro

The Mustangs junior caught fire last week and posted two hat tricks in two Marlboro wins. Tzitzis threw up three goals and an assist in a win over Raritan and did it again in a win over Howell. She scored on a penalty kick to give the Mustangs the lead vs. Howell and came back with two more goals and an assist to put that game away.
