South Jersey Non-Public A Quarterfinals
(8) St. John Vianney 2, (1) Notre Dame 1
Two minutes after Notre Dame took a 1-0 lead in the first half, St. John Vianney responded with the tying goal and later added the winner midway through the second half to upset the No. 1 seed in the quarterfinals.
Junior Emma Albano scored the equalizer off a pass from senior Hayley Jaeger after Notre Dame’s Magdelene Madjor scored the first goal of the game in the first half.
Junior Erin Dorr scored the game-winner off a free kick from junior Madison Pieloch from about 25 yards out.
SJV will travel to No. 5 Princeton Day on Friday in the semifinals.
(3) Trinity Hall 1, (6) Paul VI 0
Sophomore Caroline Ferguson scored 15 minutes into the game to lift Trinity Hall past last year’s South Jersey Non-Public A champions. Freshman Kailyn Fitzgerald sent a cross into the box that Ferguson was able to finish.
Sophomore Emily Venezia made double-digit saves on her way to her 11th shutout of the season.
Trinity Hall will travel to No. 2 Red Bank Catholic in the semifinals on Friday at 3 p.m.
(2) Red Bank Catholic 1, (7) Immaculata 0
RBC broke the scoreless tie in the 50th minute, when senior Mya King sent a through ball to freshman Payton Cox, who beat Immaculata’s goalie when she came out to make a play on the ball. Cox finished on an open net, giving her nine goals on the season.
Junior Cailin Naughton was tested a few times throughout the game but made a big save on a corner kick and made a kick save in the first half to keep the game scoreless.
RBC will host No. 3 Trinity Hall in the semifinals on Friday at 3 p.m.
South Jersey Non-Public B Quarterfinals
(2) Holy Spirit 6, (10) St. Rose 2
Holy Spirit advanced into the South Jersey Non-Public B semifinals, defeating St. Rose, 6-2. Senior Ella Petrosh scored two goals and junior Marissa Gras added two goals and an assist for Holy Spirit. Senior Leanna Silva scored her ninth goal of the season and junior Molly Cullen scored her 10th goal of the season for St. Rose.
