Week 8

1. Red Bank Catholic (21-4) Previous Rank: 1 -.RBC has had little trouble as they advance into the SCT semifinal round. They defeated the 16 seed Jackson Memorial in the 2nd Round 84-38 and No. 9 Rumson-Fair Haven 62-41 in the quarterfinals. On Sunday they picked up a non-conference win against Albertus Magnus (NY) 72-39. Four different players scored in double-digits in a balanced attack. RBC plays No. 5  Manasquan on Tuesday in the SCT semifinal round at Red Bank Regional.  The winner plays in the finals on Sunday at Monmouth University. 

2. St. John Vianney (18-7) Previous Rank: 2 - SJV defeated No. 19 Colts Neck 61-15 in the second round of the SCT. SJV held Colts Neck to three points in the second half. In the quarterfinals, the Lady Lances defeated No. 7 Red Bank Regional 43-35. Sophomore Madison Kocis knocked down four 3-pointers to help SJV advance into the semifinals. Tuesday they play No. 6 Trinity Hall 7:45 p.m. at Red Bank Regional High School. The winner will play in the finals on Sunday at Monmouth University

3. Trinity Hall (17-6) Previous Rank: 7 - Trinity Hall, who was the No. 6 seed, had a bye in the first round of the SCT and played division Howell in the second round. They defeated the No. 11 seed 58-32 with senior Nina Emnace leading the team with 20 points. The Monarchs defeated the No. 3 seed Ocean Township 67-52 in the quarterfinal round. Trinity Hall shot the ball very well, knocking down 11 3-pointers and building a double-digit lead going into halftime and held on to advance to their first SCT semifinal game in the school’s history. They play the No. 2 seed St. John Vianney on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. at Red Bank Regional High School. The winner will play in the finals on Sunday at Monmouth University.

4. Manasquan (19-4) Previous Rank: 5 - Manasquan had a bye in the opening round as the No. 5 seed. In the second round they defeated Ranney for the second time this season, 65-22. In the quarterfinals they came back to defeat No. 4 St. Rose 44-43 after trailing for the majority of the game. Manasquan will face the No. 1 seed Red Bank Catholic on Tuesday in the SCT semifinals at Red Bank Regional. The winner plays on Sunday at Monmouth in the SCT Final. 

5. Ocean Township (19-4) Previous Rank: 3 - Ocean had a bye in the opening round being seeded No. 3. In the second round they defeated No. 19 Neptune 58-21 in the second round with three girls scoring double-digits. In the quarterfinals they fell to the No. 6 seed Trinity Hall 67-52. Ocean will prepare for Central Jersey Group 3 where they made the finals last season. 

6. St. Rose (16-9) Previous Rank: 4 - St. Rose earned the No. 4 seed in the SCT and had a bye in the opening round. In the second round they defeated the No. 13 seed Holmdel 56-33. The Purple Roses forced Holmdel to turn the ball over several times to start the game and build a 30-8 halftime lead. In the quarterfinals, St. Rose fell to rival Manasquan, who was the No. 5 seed, 44-43. St. Rose will prepare for the South Jersey Non-Public B sectional. 

7. Red Bank Regional (10-4) Previous Rank: 6 -.RBR, who was the No. 7 seed, had a bye in the opening round and narrowly defeated the No. 10 seed Manchester 47-44. The Bucs battled back from trailing by 11 points in the 3rd quarter led by Zoe Gulley’s 20 points. RBR fell to the No. 2 seed St. John Vianney 43-35 in the quarterfinal round. RBR will prepare for the Central Jersey Group 3 sectional. 

8. Rumson-Fair Haven (15-8) Previous Rank: 9 - Rumson made it to the SCT quarterfinals, but fell to the top seed Red Bank Catholic 62-41. In the opening round they defeated Freehold Township 61-37 and battled back in the 4th quarter to defeat No. 8 Wall 54-45 in the second round. Rumson will play No. 16 Jackson Memorial on Tuesday as they prepare for Central Jersey Group 2.

9. Wall (17-6) Previous Rank: 8 - Wall defeated Point Beach in the opening round of the SCT 53-35. In the second round they fell to the No. 9 seed Rumson 54-45. Wall travels to Colts Neck on Tuesday and Toms River East on Thursday. Friday they host No. 16 Jackson Memorial as they prepare for Central Jersey Group 2. 
10. Manchester (16-7) Previous Rank: 10 - Manchester defeated Monmouth Regional 52-43 in the opening round of the SCT. In the second round, Manchester led by 11 points in the 3rd quarter, but fell to No. 7 Red Bank Regional 47-44. Manchester will travel to Toms River South on Tuesday and host Colts Neck on Thursday as they prepare for South Jersey Group 2. 

11. Howell (16-7) Previous Rank: 11 - Howell defeated Barnegat 69-41 in the opening round of the SCT. Freshman Kylee Beam continues to finish the season strong, posting a double-double in her first postseason game. Howell fell to division rival and the No. 6 seed Trinity Hall 58-32 in the second round. Howell hosts Shore Regional on Tuesday and still needs to play Trinity Hall for their divisional game. 

12. Holmdel (13-9) Previous Rank: 13 - Holmdel defeated No. 20 Shore Regional 71-52 in the opening round of the SCT. In the second round Holmdel fell to the No. 4 seed St. Rose 56-33. St. Rose forced Holmdel to turn the ball over in the double-digits in the first half to build a big lead at halftime. Holmdel will host South Brunswick on Tuesday as they prepare for Central Jersey Group 2.

13. Neptune (14-11) Previous Rank: 14 - Neptune had the biggest upset in the SCT so far, defeating No. 14 Southern 53-34. Neptune fell to No. 3 Ocean Township in the second round 58-21. Neptune will prepare for the Central Jersey Group 3 sectional tournament.

14. Ranney (11-10) Previous Rank: 12 - Ranney won their opening round game in the SCT against Brick Memorial 61-41. In the second round they fell to division rival Manasquan 65-22. Ranney plays No. 15 Southern on Wednesday as they prepare for the South Jersey Non-Public B sectional. 

15. Southern Regional (18-5) Previous Rank: 15 -. Southern won their first Class A South title since 2016 after they defeated Jackson Memorial two weeks ago. Last week Southern lost in the first round of the SCT to No. 19 Neptune 53-34. They play Ranney this week as they prepare for South Jersey Group IV Sectional. 

16. Jackson Memorial (16-5) Previous Rank: 15 - The Jaguars defeated division rival Toms River East  40-37 in overtime. Sophomores Avery Brooks and Isabella Finer both posted the same double-double, 11 points and 11 rebounds. Jackson Memorial fell to No. 1 RBC in the second round 84-38. The Jaguars will play No. 8 Rumson-Fair Haven and No. 9 Wall this week as they prepare to defend their Central Jersey Group IV title.
