No. 10 Long Branch 48, Middletown South 34
Just another night at the office for Anyssa Fields. The senior guard pumped in 25 points, ripped down 13 rebounds, handed out three assists and had two steals for Long Branch (14-4, 7-4).
The Green Wave, which got some revenge for a 56-48 setback to Middletown South on Jan. 17, rushed to a 30-11 lead by halftime. Sophomore guard Sophia Hepburn clicked for a eight points, nine rebounds and four steals while Madison Grayson and Jada Rogers combined for nine points and each cleared six boards. Senior guard Alanna Lynch scored six on a pair of threes and added five rebounds.
Senior Kayla Richardson dropped in 16 for Middletown South (9-8, 8-3).
A South
Brick 53, Brick Memorial 44
The Green Dragons (5-16, 2-11) picked up their second straight win and earned a split of the season series with their crosstown rival. Senior Emma Carpino, a 5-11 forward, dropped in 17 points and frontcourt classmate Erika Cameron scored 10.
Non-Divisional
Pinelands 51, Freehold 30
Junior guards Skylar Callahan and Sunni DiElmo pumped in 15 points apiece as the Wildcats (7-14) extended their win streak to three. Pinelands built a 29-17 cushion at the half.
Sophomore forward Bridget Dudas scored seven of her 12 points before intermission for the Wildcats, who also received eight points from DiElmo prior to the break. Callahan struck for 10 points in the third.
Maddie Bideaux topped Freehold (3-18) with 11 points.
Central 40, Manalapan 34
Junior swing Jadelynn Smith accounted for 13 points and senior guard Mercedes Corbin scored 12 to pace the Golden Eagles (14-7) to their fifth consecutive win.
Junior guard Allie Bentley provided the perimeter coverage for Central, sinking three 3-pointers and finishing with 11 points. The Golden Eagles opened with an 11-3 showing in the first quarter and stretch their lead to 23-11 by intermission.
Senior forward Alana Grinberg had 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots for Manalapan (5-15) and senior guard Lauryn Thomas adde six points as well as nine boards.
