Shore Conference Tournament

Opening Round

(6) CBA 6, (27) St. Rose 0

Senior Luke Pascarella recorded a hat trick and added an assist to lead the surging Colts (8-3-1) past the Purple Roses (6-5-3) and into the SCT round of 16 Saturday vs. No. 22 Toms River East.

Pascarella headed in a cross from junior Ryan Mojares to open the scoring in the 12th minute and converted a penalty kick on minute later to make it 2-0. He then set up a goal by junior Brett Sieg to extend the CBA lead to 3-0 before halftime and added his third goal on the other side of the break.

Senior Brendan Dettling and sophomore Dylan Cupo each added a goal to round out the CBA scoring.

(10) Middletown South 4, (23) Barnegat 0

Junior Aaron Oliveira opened the floodgates with a goal in the 29th minute and the Eagles (8-3-3) tacked on three more in the second half to nail down a first-round win over the Bengals (8-2-1).

Junior Matt Glynn hammered home a shot for Middletown South's second goal, followed by a free kick goal by senior Danny Minze to make it 3-0. Senior Alex Sigua capped the scoring off an assist from senior Matt Cozzi.

Middletown South advances to the round of 16 Saturday, when the Eagles will travel to take on No. 7 Southern.

(12) Monmouth 2, (21) Raritan 1

Diego Ibarra and Lucas Perreira each scored a goal and the Falcons (11-2) hung on to oust the Rockets (5-6).

Ibarra finished off a through-ball from Kaan Pehlivan to open the scoring in the first half and Perreira extended the lead to 2-0 off a pass from Ryan Kuldanek early in the second half.

Mike Faulkner broke up the shutout in the 77th minute off a feed from Connor Smith.

(19) Neptune 3, (14) Matawan 0

Senior Ryan Gannon scored the first of Neptune's three second-half goals and assisted the second as the Scarlet Fliers (8-4) went off over the final 22 minutes to pick up a road win over the Huskies (6-5-1).

Gannon knocked in a low cross from senior Kyle Schembri to break a scoreless tie in the 58th minute. Just 1:17 later, senior Louis Pennington lined up a bouncing ball in the box and drilled it to the left corner of the goal for a 2-0 Neptune lead.

The Fliers put the game on ice in the 71st, when Randy Rojas finished off a cross from Steven Camacho.

Neptune advances to play at No. 3 Jackson Memorial in the SCT Round of 16 on Saturday.

(9) Long Branch 2, (24) Lacey 0

Long Branch scored a goal early in each half with the help of Lacey defenders and those were enough for the Green Wave (6-6-1) to top the Lions (6-5-3).

Senior Jason Laviola took a pass from senior Patrick O'Dwyer in the sixth minute and skipped a cross on the ground to the front of the goal, where a Lacey defender attempted to block it before it reached the far post. The ball crept toward the goal line and the official ruled it crossed the line before Lacey goalkeeper Anthony Leporino covered it.

In the first minute of the second half, O'Dwyer shook free of multiple Lacey defenders and drilled a shot off of one of them, redirecting it to the left side of the goal.

Junior goalkeeper Tyler Abbot made a kick save in the 58th minute off a Lacey corner kick to keep the score 2-0 and deny the Lions on their best opportunity.

Long Branch will travel to play No. 8 Colts Neck in the round of 16 on Saturday.
