Boys Soccer – Shore’s Nick DiNapoli Wins Final Player of the Week Award
Postseason Surf Taco Player of the Week
Nick DiNapoli, Shore
Shore made its deepest run in the state tournament in eight years, winning the Central Jersey Group I championship and bowing out to eventual overall Group I champion Haddon Township in a wild, 6-3 game. The Blue Devils had a deep collection of goal-scorers in their last three games, during which Shore racked up a total of 11 goals.
Freshman Cooper Attaway led the way with three in those last three gams, but DiNapoli scored the two biggest goals of the tournament for Shore. With the sectional final at Florence tied, 1-1, DiNapoli scored the game-winner in the 54th minute and added one in the 76th to effectively clinch the championship for the Blue Devils.
It was Shore's first Central Jersey Group I championship since 2014 and its first trip to a sectional final since making it to the Central Jersey Group II final in 2018, when the Blue Devils lost to a powerhouse Holmdel squad. Shore punched its ticket to the sectional final with a 5-0 win over Point Beach, in which DiNapoli contributed an assist.
One of just three senior starters on Shore, DiNapoli finished his Blue Devils career leading the team in scoring (13 goals and six assists) and was a Shore Conference Coaches' All-Division selection in the Class A Central division.
DiNapoli's final victory during his senior season came thanks to 27 percent of the vote, beating out runner up Bo Pepe -- the junior midfielder on Wall who raked in 20 percent of the vote.
For winning the final Player of the Week award, DiNapoli will receive a $25 gift card from Surf Taco.
