Shore Conference Tournament
Round of 16

(4) Toms River North 2, (20) Red Bank 2 (TR North advances in penalty kicks, 2-1)

Sam MacPherson and Justin Gilson scored goals four minutes apart in the 68th and 72nd minute to rally the Bucs (8-8-1), but the Mariners (9-3-4) survived by sinking two penalty kicks during the shootout to advance to the quarterfinals Tuesday against No. 5 seed and defending SCT champion Ocean.

Sal Turelli and Sean Graham each buried their attempts in the round of kicks, with Turelli's serving as the winner. Sean Moore scored both Toms River North goals during regulation, the first in the 54th minute and the second shortly after in the 56th.

(11) Wall 1, (6) CBA 0

Brendan Barcas headed in a chip from Joe Tashjy out of the air on a free kick from 25-30 yards out in the 74th minute and the Crimson Knights (11-1-6) held on to knock off the Colts (9-4-2) in the first meeting between the two Shore standouts since 2000.

Tashjy, a CBA transfer after playing significant minutes for the Colts as a sophomore last year, played a ball over the CBA wall on the free kick and toward the left post. Barcas ran onto the ball and headed out of the air and to the far right post for the deciding goal.

Crimson Knights goalkeeper Jack Wishart made three saves to earn the shutout, including a rejection of Russell Romano on a one-on-one opportunity in the 53rd minute.

Wall will play the winner of Saturday's nightcap between No. 3 Rumson-Fair Haven and Monsignor Donovan.

(2) Holmdel 3, (15) Toms River East 2

Andrew McStay came off the bench to score the golden goal with 27 seconds left in the first overtime period and the Hornets (14-1-1) survived a scare from the Raiders (7-7-2) to advance to the SCT quarterfinals for the fourth straight year. Holmdel will host No. 7 Jackson Memorial on Tuesday.

Hornets senior Jason Kyriacou battled for a ball on the right side of the 18-yard box and got it past two Toms River East defenders, allowing McStay a clean shot from inside the six-yard box that the junior slid past goalkeeper Justin Tegeder for the winner.

Toms River East rallied from a 2-0 second-half deficit to send the game into extra time. Tyler Nichols split through two defenders to get to a Lorenzo Scala pass and toe-poke the ball to the right post. Holmdel goalkeeper Tyler Marchiano covered the ball with his right hand, but not until it was over the end-line by a matter of inches.

The Raiders tied the game with 16 seconds left in regulation on a free kick by Scala that ricocheted off a Holmdel defender and into the goal.

The Hornets beat the clock in the first half, with Jack Flanagan heading in a corner kick by Brendan Wall as the buzzer sounded to give Holmdel a 2-0 advantage. Wall, playing in his first game back after missing time with an ankle injury, also assisted Eric D'Aleo's goal in the 17th, a header out of the air on a cross.

(1) Manalapan 2, (16) Raritan 0

Junior Adam Weisberger scored off a pass from freshman Rocky Garretson three minutes into the match and sophomore Mitch Volis found junior Ryan Hammer for an insurance tally in the 60th as the Braves (14-2-1) blanked the Rockets (10-5-2) to advance to a quarterfinal match with Class A North rival Colts Neck on Tuesday.

Manalapan and the No. 9 Cougars split the regular season series, with the Braves rallying from a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 in the latest meeting.

(5) Ocean 2, (12) Toms River South 1

Wadneson Alexis scored the golden goal in the ninth minute of overtime on a redirected cross from George Kavarakas and the Spartans (11-1-4) defeated the Indians (8-7-2) in the SCT round of 16 for the second straight year, this time in dramatic fashion. Ocean will travel to No. 4 Toms River North in Tuesday's quarterfinals.

Justin Silverberg gave Ocean a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game on a penalty kick following a trip inside the 18-yard box. Toms River South scored the equalizer in the 22nd minute on Jared Knowles first goal of the season.

(9) Colts Neck 2, (8) Freehold Township 0

Toms DiBella ripped a 25-yard strike into the left corner of the goal 30 minutes into the match and Brian Knauf added a header off a cross from Brian Winderman in the 48th to help lead the Cougars (8-3-4) past the Patriots (12-5-1) and into the quarterfinals against top-seeded Manalapan on Tuesday.

Freehold Township beat Colts Neck twice during the Class A North regular season and will likely draw the Cougars at home in the first round of the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV playoffs, based on the current power points standings.

(7) Jackson Memorial 1, (10) Lacey 1 (Jackson advances on penalty kicks, 11-10)

Bryce Procida buried a 40-yard direct kick in the 75th minute for the Jackson equalizer and the Jaguars (12-4-3) outlasted the Lions (10-4-3) in 11 rounds of penalty kicks to advance to the quarterfinals Tuesday against No. 2 Holmdel. Jackson Memorial suffered its first loss of the 2012 season to Holmdel in the SCT semifinals after a 20-0 start.

Garrett Muzikowski made his third penalty kick of the shootout just before a Lacey miss sealed the match. Eric Reitmeyer headed in a cross from Owen Hope in the 26th minute for Lacey's goal.

(3) Rumson-Fair Haven 1, (14) Monsignor Donovan 0

Junior Mike Slutz scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season in the ninth minute and the Rumson defense made it stand up as the Bulldogs (14-1-1) edged the Griffins (12-3-2) to advance to the quarterfinals for a home match with No. 11 Wall on Tuesday.

Slutz controlled a punt from goalkeeper Chris Tierney, knifed through two defenders and beat Monsignor Donovan goalkeeper Paul Kelly one-on-one to the lower right for the game's lone goal.

Kelly made eight saves in defeat, including two within seconds of one another in the 45th minute. The first was a leaping save on a shot by Pete Martin ticketed for the upper part of the goal and the second was a kick save on a close-range shot by Kieran Doherty toward the near right post. He later made another diving save on a near-post strike by Harry Gassert from the left side.

Monsignor Donovan's best chance to score came in the 69th minute when senior Mike Dalton battled his way through a defender and knocked a shot toward the goal that Tierney deflected. The ball rolled past Tierney and toward the end-line, but senior defender Ryan Strang darted back to clear it off the line just before it crossed over.
