SEMIFINALS

Thursday, May 10

At Long Branch High School

1-CBA 14, 4-Rumson-Fair Haven 8

The Colts (16-0) used an eight-goal surge that spanned from the final 68 seconds of the third quarter to more than halfway through the fourth quarter to defeat the Bulldogs (10-9) and reach the SCT championship for the first time since 2009.

Junior attackman Connor Macrae scored a game-high six goals while senior midfielder Luke Valentino added three goals and one assist, freshman midfielder Kyle Aldridge had two goals and two assists and senior attackman Robbie Hermansen tallied a goal and three assists. Chris Downey made 10 saves, including six in the fourth quarter. Mike Carroll chipped in with one goal and one assist and Luke Grover also scored once.

Patrick Jamin had two goals and two assists while Kiel Forlenza, Drew Shaw and Harry Ricker also scored twice. Sean Bunnell made six saves.

 

2-Manasquan 12, 3-Southern 0

Junior attackman Canyon Birch scored six goals and added two assists to set a new Shore Conference single-season record with 98 goals and lead the defending-champion Warriors (15-2) back to the SCT final.

Birch surpassed the previous mark of 93 set by Southern's Dylan Jinks in 2014. Junior midfielder James Pendergist scored twice, junior attackman Ryan Anderson had a goal and two assists and junior defenseman Jack Fabean had one goal and one assist. Riley Callahan and James McElduff each scored once and junior long-stick midfielder Mike Page had two assists.

Junior goalie Mike LaPoint made five saves to post the shutout while senior Sean Anderson went 8-for-13 on face-offs.

Luke Maul made 10 saves for Southern.

 

QUARTERFINALS

Tuesday, May 8

1-CBA 15, 8-Shore 3

The freshmen duo of Kyle Aldridge and Dan Martin combined for eight points as the top-seeded Colts (15-0) put away the Blue Devils (14-3) early to advance to the SCT final four.

Aldridge scored three goals and added two assists while Martin also had a hat trick. Senior attackman Michael Carroll tallied two goals and two assists and Chris Romano also scored twice. Luke Grover and Thomas Convery had one goal and one assist each and Luke Valentino, Nick Robertson and Chris Junquet had one goal apiece. Kevin Junquet had two assists. Chris Downey made two saves and Noah D'Andrea had one save.

Ryan Morris scored twice, Jake Turner scored once and Scott Sirianni made 12 saves for Shore, which had its eight-game winning streak snapped.

CBA will play Rumson-Fair Haven in the SCT semifinals at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Long Branch High School.

 

4-Rumson-Fair Haven 10, 5-Wall 9

Senior midfielder Wyatt Feinberg scored a game-high four goals and senior midfielder Peter Lucas had two goals and one assist as the Bulldogs (10-8) held off the Crimson Knights (12-4) in a back-and-forth game at Borden Stadium.

Kiel Forlenza also scored twice for Rumson while Drew Shaw and Patrick Jamin had one goal each and Sean Bunnell made seven saves.

Senior midfielder Will Forte had three goals and two assists and Jack Textor had three goals to lead Wall. Tim O'Hern, Kyle Peters and Mike McIntyre each scored once and Sean DeMott made six saves.

Rumson will play CBA in the SCT semifinals at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Long Branch High School.

 

3-Southern 6, 11-Ocean 4

Trailing by four heading into the fourth quarter, the Rams (12-2) rallied with six unanswered goals in the final 12 minutes to stun the Spartans (9-5) and advance to the SCT semifinals for the sixth time in the last seven years.

Junior attackman Aniello Russo scored the go-ahead goal off a pass from junior Nick Stankus with 2:40 left in regulation and finished with two goals. Cade Johnson had a game-high five points on two goals and three assists and Ryan McWhorter and Anthony Firmani each scored once. Firmani also went 12-for-14 on face-offs. Luke Maul made 12 saves.

Holden Lowe had two goals and one assist and Garrett Schwab made 14 saves for Ocean. A.J. Roebuck and Jack Nies each scored once.

Southern will play Manasquan at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Long Branch High School in the SCT semifinals.

 

2-Manasquan 16, 7-Freehold Township 2

Junior attackman Canyon Birch had six goals in the first quarter when the defending-champion Warriors (14-2) opened a 7-0 read en route to cruising past the Patriots (10-4) and into the semifinals.

Manasquan will play Southern in the SCT final four at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Long Branch High School.

 

FIRST ROUND

Friday, May 4

2-Manasquan 21, 15-Lacey 4

Junior attackman Canyon Birch sank four goals and added two assists and junior linemate Ryan Anderson had four goals and one assist as the defending-champion Warriors (12-2) wiped out the Lions (6-6) to advance to the quarterfinals.

Manasquan had 12 different goal scorers and jumped out to a 10-1 lead after the first quarter to put the game away early. James Mele and Mike Farinacci added two goals and one assist each while Casey Campbell also scored twice. Trey Brehm, Matt Franzoni and Mike Page each had one goal and one assist and James Pendergist, Casey Mulligan, Evan Hilla and Mike Cielecki had one goal apiece. Mike LaPoint Made three saves to earn the win and Nick Vitale had one save.

Dylan Vitale scored twice and Ryan Giles and JoeCarlo Chimenti scored one goal each for Lacey.

 

Saturday, May 5

1-CBA 17, 16-Middletown North 0

Freshman attackman Dan Martin had a huge game with five goals and three assists and senior attackman Mike Carroll also played big with five goals and two assists as the undefeated Colts (14-0) rolled over the Lions to advance to the SCT quarterfinals.

Chris Downey made two saves and Noah D'Andrea made one save in back of a defense that held Middletown North to seven shots and recorded the team's fourth shutout of the season.

Connor Macrae added two goals and one assist, Chris Junquet had one goal and two assists and Luke Valentino notched a goal and an assist. Mason Rudolph, Hunter Connellan and Ryan Knoeller each scored once and Kyle Aldridge had two assists.

Joey Dam made 10 saves for Middletown North.

CBA will host Shore in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

 

8-Shore 12, 9-Holmdel 8

Junior attackman Jake Turner scored four goals and sophomore goalie Scott Sirianni made 13 saves as the Blue Devils (13-2) tied the program record for wins in a season and advanced in the SCT by defeating the Hornets (11-5).

Senior attackman Ryan Morris added two goals and four assists, Justin Murphy and Tom Bocco had two goals apiece and Jack McCrae and Gil Goldsmith each scored once.

Jack Kapcsos, Joe Hazel and Justin Cohen each scored twice for Holmdel. Dan Bunting had one goal and one assist, Dan Tempone scored once and Justin Arredondo had three assists. Nick Tuccillo made seven saves.

Shore will play at top-seeded CBA at 4 p.m. on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.

 

5-Wall 17, 12-Toms River East 6

Senior attackman Mike McIntyre tallied four goals and four assists and Sean DeMott made 13 saves as the Crimson Knights (12-3) topped the Raiders (8-4) to advance to the SCT quarterfinals.

Senior midfielder Will Forte added two goals and three assists, Connor Prindiville had three goals and one assist and Tim O'Hern also scored three times. Ethan Doyle sank a pair of goals, Jack Textor had a goal and two assists and Logan Peters had one goal and one assist. Ryan Kellett went 8-for-12 on face-offs.

 

4-Rumson-Fair Haven 16, 13-Jackson Memorial 4

Sophomore midfielder Kiel Forlenza scored three goals and added two assists and Wyatt Feinberg also scored three times to lead the Bulldogs (9-8) past the Jaguars (8-4).

Kurt Bruckman, Rowan Goldin, Patrick Jamin and Jacob Waters each scored twice while Harry Ricker and Drew Shaw scored once. Sean Bunnell made four saves to earn the win.

Braedon Kukan, Sean Laverty, Santo Porazzo and Tim Schindler each scored once and Yael Bonilla made seven saves for Jackson.

Rumson will host Wall in the quarterfinals.

 

3-Southern 11, 14-Toms River North 3

Senior midfielder Ryan McWhorter produced four goals and two assists and senior goalie Luke Maul made 10 saves to propel the Rams (11-2) past the Mariners (6-5) and into the SCT quarterfinals.

Aniello Russo tallied two goals and two assists and Cade Johnson also scored twice. Ryan Comfort and Nick Stankus each scored once.

Southern will host 11th-seeded Ocean in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

 

11-Ocean 7, 6-Middletown South 2

7-Freehold Township 7, 10-Howell 3

Sophomore attackman Brendan Doel put up three goals and one assist and junior goalie Aidan Purcell made eight saves as the Patriots (10-3) topped the rival Rebels (8-6) for the second time this year to advance to the SCT quarterfinals.

Chris Novella added one goal and one assist, Nick Elimanco and Brian Schirripa each scored once and defenseman Mike Farrell scored his first career goal.

James Fay, Pat Handy and Jared Badillo each scored once and Nick Roberto made 11 saves for Howell.

Freehold Township will play at second-seeded Manasquan on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
