CLASS A NORTH

Middletown North 15, Marlboro 5

Quin Aker scored four goals and assisted on five others and Pete Abbes tallied four goals and four assists to power the Lions (1-1) past the Mustangs (0-2) in their home opener.

Evan Fuertes added two goals and one assist and Alec Zenker had a goal and an assist in addition to dominating the face-off X. Joe Blackwood scored twice and Brayden Gazzette and Tyler Brooks each scored once.

 

CLASS B SOUTH

Lacey 18, Barnegat 2

Senior attackman JoeCarlo Chimenti had a huge day with six goals and three assists and Dylan Vitale supplied four goals and one assist to lead the Lions (1-1, 1-0) past the Bengals (0-2, 0-1).

Chris Augustine and Jake Schlosser each finished with two goals and one assist and Mike Gallicchio went 11 of 14 on face-offs. Coleton Klaus and Eric Gren were each 5-for-5 on draws.

No. 1 Manasquan at Colts Neck - postponed

 

No. 5 Wall 18, Red Bank Catholic 5

Senior attackman Mike McIntyre scored six goals and added two assists and Tim O'Hern tallied three goals and four assists as the Crimson Knights (2-1) cruised past the Caseys (1-2).

Jack Textor added two goals and three assists, Will Forte scored twice and Ryan Kellett had a goal, three assists and a whopping 16 ground balls as part of a big day on face-offs. Connor Prindiville and Tim McKernan each registered a goal and two assists while Kyle Peters and Ethan Doyle scored once and Sean DeMott made eight saves.

Jack Zenkert led RBC with three goals, Tyler Brand had a goal and two assists and Ryan Schellin had one goal and one assist. Colin Marshall made six saves.

 

No. 8 Howell 7, Jackson Liberty 6 (2OT)

Freshman attackman James Fay scored off a pass from Jared Badillo in double overtime for his first career goal to give the Rebels (2-1) a thrilling victory over the Lions (1-2). Senior midfielder Pat Handy had a team-high three goals plus one assist and Badillo finished with two goals and one assist. Logan Dennison and Fay had one goal apiece.

 

Ocean 8, Middletown South 7

Holden Lowe, Dale Alto and Brian Fischer each scored twice and Spartans (2-1) rallied from a three-goal deficit in the second half to top the Eagles (2-1).

Down 5-2 early in the third quarter, Ocean used a goal by Alto and then goals by Lowe and senior defenseman Richie Bianchi in a span of 19 seconds to tie the score at five heading to the fourth quarter. Fisher and Mike Nies then tallied to put Ocean up 7-5 and the Spartans held on through a wild ending that featured three goals in the final 25 seconds.

Lowe and Fisher also had one assist each while freshman goalie Garrett Schwab made six saves.

Connor Ard led Middletown South with three goals while Dan Rossi, Jason Allen, Matt Tardy and Carter Lenhard each scored once. Shane Murphy made eight saves.

 

Jackson Memorial 7, Red Bank 6

Sophomore Aaron Hutchinson notched a hat trick and Joe Iacobone scored twice to lead the Jaguars (1-0) past the Bucs (1-2) in their first game of the season. Nick Perillo and Santo Porazzo each scored once and Yael Bonilla made eight saves.

Dan Bonanno scored twice and Dean Hottman had a goal and an assist to lead Red Bank. Anthony Buonantuono, Ryan McGee and Will Spencer each scored once and Matt Gibson made 12 saves.

 

Point Boro 12, Long Branch 0

Cormac McCabe fired in four goals and dished out three assists and T.J. Palazzo had a hat trick plus one assist to lead the Panthers (2-1) past the Green Wave (0-4) in their second straight shutout.

Tanner Gordon added two goals and one assist and Colby Biggs, Colton Carls and Dylan Kovolesky each scored once. Paker Roncin made six saves and Jake Toner picked up a team-high seven ground balls.

 

Toms River North 4, No. 7 Holmdel 3

 

NONCONFERENCE

No. 6 Freehold Township 6, Allentown 5 (2OT)

Senior midfielder Matt Graybush scored off a pass from sophomore attackman Brendan Doel in double overtime to complete the comeback win for the Patriots (2-0) over the Redbirds (0-2).

Down 5-3 entering the fourth quarter, junior midfielder Matt Kondrup scored twice in the final 3:12, including the game-tying goal with 49 seconds left in regulation. Kondrup finished with three goals and senior attackman Chris Novella scored twice. Doel had two assists and Graybush and Ryan O'Donoghue assisted on one goal each. Aidan Purcell turned aside 17 shots to earn the win.

Freehold Township had the advantage in shots, 28-21.

 

Westfield 12, No. 3 Rumson-Fair Haven 3

Westfield jumped out to a 7-1 halftime lead and never looked back en route to handing the Bulldogs their third straight loss to open the season.

Kurt Bruckman, Patrick Jamin and William Sullivan each had goals while Sean Bunnell ade eight saves and Doug Duprey made five saves. Senior defenseman Stephen Edler had a team-high eight ground balls.
