First Round

South, Group 4

(1) Eastern 20, (16) Marlboro 3

Matthew Bogner scored twice and AJ Muhlbach scored once for the Mustangs (5-15) in their loss to the top-seeded Vikings (14-3).

Jacob Feeney led Eastern with three goals and seven assists.

 

(2) Cherokee 22, (15) Freehold Township 4

Senior attackman Nolan Thompson scored three goals and senior midfielder Conor Monro scored once for the Patriots (9-9). Junior midfielder Ryan Rowolt had two assists, junior goalie Junior Alvarado made nine saves, and sophomore goalie Josh Lubin made two saves.

Sophomore attackman Ryan Hoffman scored five goals and added two assists and senior midfielder Matt Baselice tallied four goals and two assists to lead the second-seeded Chiefs (9-8).

 

South, Group 3

(6) Toms River East 19, (11) Toms River South 8

Freshman attackman Gerard Uzzolino, junior midfielder Nate Cummings, and sophomore attackman Nicholas Caruso combined for 13 goals and 20 points to lead the Raiders (13-5) past the rival Indians (9-9) and into the quarterfinals.

Uzzolino recorded a game-high eight points with three goals and five assists to give him a Toms River East freshman single-season record 55 points. Cummings delivered five goals and two assists and Caruso scored five times. Senior Patrick Hinkson added a hat trick, junior midfielder Tyler Godlesky had a goal and three assists, and junior midfielder Ethan Kelly had a goal and two assists. Freshman goalie Ryan Caruso made eight saves and senior midfielder Caden Dressler scored once.

Toms River East will play at third-seeded Ocean City in the quarterfinals.

 

South, Group 2

(6) Robbinsville 12, (11) Barnegat 0

Sophomore goalie DJ Swierk made 12 saves for the Bengals (10-10).

Lukas Hutt paced the Ravens (12-5) with four goals and four assists.
