Senior quarterback Anthony Brown threw three touchdown passes and Calvin Beaty added a rushing touchdown for the Lancers (1-0, 1-0), who held off the Huskies (0-1, 0-1) to open their season and give head coach Derek Sinisnky his first win with the program.

Brown threw a 48-yard touchdown to senior Khalil Haskins in the second quarter, a 78-yard touchdown to Mike Stapert on a wide receiver screen and a 14-yarder to Chris Chukwuneke to seal the victory late in the fourth quarter. Beaty had a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and Joe Rice booted a 48-yard field goal in the first quarter.

Matawan junior quarterback Jake Burlew got the start in place of injured sophomore standout George Pearson and ran for a pair of touchdowns. Makiya Ceasar added a one-yard touchdown run for the Huskies.
