Beacon 70 Football Player of the Week: Toms River East’s Dante Carr
Every week this season, Shore Conference football fans will have their chance to vote for the Beacon 70/Shore Sports Network Football Player of the Week on our website.
The Week 2 Player of the Week is Toms River East senior running back/linebacker Dante Carr, who spearheaded the Raiders' 27-7 victory over district rival Toms River South. Carr and all Player of the Week winners this season will receive a $25 Beacon 70 gift card.
After falling behind 7-0 in the first 30 seconds of the game, the Raiders shook off Toms River South's quick-strike touchdown to dominate the remaining 47 minutes of football, scoring 27 unanswered points to pick up their first win of the season. Carr led the way with 86 yards rushing and a touchdown on 16 carries and on defense recorded seven tackles with one sack, one tackle for loss, a forced fumble, and a pass breakup.
Carr and his Toms River East teammates return to action this Friday night in a Freedom Division matchup on the road at St. John Vianney (0-2).
Carr was the clear winner in the Week 2 poll with over 45 percent of all votes cast. Lacey's Dominick Perrone was second and Raritan's Kieran Falzon was third.
