No. 1 St. John Vianney 6, Morris Catholic 5

Trailing 5-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning, SJV scored four runs and held on to win their opening game. Sophomore Madison McDougall went 2 of 3 with a homerun and 3 RBIs for the Lancers. McDougall also struck out 11 batters in her first victory of the season.

No. 4 Red Bank Catholic 4, Immaculate Heart Academy 3

The Caseys scored three runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to take a 4-3 lead and win their third game of the season. Junior Lily Hagan struck out six batters on her way to the victory. Junior Lana Rudolph went 3 for 3 with two RBIs for RBC and junior Nicole Knox went 3 for 3 with two runs scored.

Non-Divisional

Shore 17, Long Branch 0 

Sophomore Dylann Lawrence pitched a shutout and struck out ten batters to help Shore win their opening day game.  Sophomore Olivia DeFonce went 4 for 4 with 7 RBI's and freshman Ayden Kampf knocked in 5 runs. Senior Riley Lawrence scored three runs and collected three hits to give her 102 career hits on her career.

No. 3 Middletown North 4, No. 11 Wall 0 

Junior Madilynn Boyce pitched 7 shutout innings and struck out 15 batters to give Middletown North their second win of the season.

Toms River North 7, Barnegat 4

TRN scored four runs in the top of the 5th inning to take a 7-0 victory and held on for a 7-4 victory. Senior Alexis Hoffman struck out 8 batters to help TRN win their first game of the season. Senior Victoria Oliveira went 1 for 3 with a triple, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored for the Mariners.

No. 10 Southern 7, No. 5 Marlboro 6

 

Class A North

No. 13 Howell 4, Manalapan 2

Howell scored two runs in the first and second innings to take a 4-0 lead and held on to win their second game of the season. Junior Madisyn Zito went 2 of 4 with a double and a triple and 2 RBIs for the Rebels. Sophomore Madison Winemiller also went 2 of 4 with a double and a triple in the game.

 

Class A South

Toms River East 16, Brick Township 0 

Senior Peyton Gallagher went 3 out of 4, including a homerun and two RBIs and senior Kaleigh Fitzgibbons went 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs for Toms River East to help them win their first game of the season. Fitzgibbons also threw four scoreless innings and had six strikeouts.

Class B North

Freehold Boro 7, Red Bank Regional 2

Senior Giana Abinanti struckout five batters to reach the 400 strikeout milestone in a division victory over RBR. Freshman Ashley Koppelman went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBIs for Freehold Boro. Senior Julianna Manrique went 1 for 1 with 3 RBIs for the Colonials. Freshman Lisbeth Vazquez-Denicis went 2 for 4 with a RBI for RBR.

Matawan 12, Ocean Township 6 

Matawan scored seven runs in the top of the 4th inning to go up 9-1 and held on to win their first game of the season. Senior Emily Cammarata went 3 of 5 with 3 runs scored and senior Ryann Healey went 4 for 4 with 5 RBIs for Matawan. Healy also struck out 7 batters in the victory for Matawan. Junior Jillian Scotto went 3 of 4 with 2 doubles and 3 runs scored for Ocean.
