Class A South

No. 2 Toms River North 5, No. 7 Toms River East 0

Senior A.J. Emnace scored two goals to lead a Mariners onslaught of the rival Raiders as Toms River North opened its season with a statement win.

Emnace opened the scoring in the 21st minute by knocking a corner kick from senior David Anderson into the goal. Senior Jared Brown opened the second-half scoring in the 42nd, when he drew a penalty kick, was stuffed by Toms River East freshman goalkeeper Bobby Calvo, but followed up the miss with a finish for a 2-0 lead.

Brown then set up Emnace's second goal with a short through-ball that the senior forward slipped inside the near left post in the 47th.

Sophomore Anthony Ruggiero assisted the final two Toms River North goals, one by sophomore Luke Montanile in the 65th and another from junior Ray Keller in the 67th.

Toms River South 6, Brick 2

Junior Jon Fitzgerald scored two goals and assisted another to lead an Indians rout of the Green Dragons.

Fitzgerald made it 2-0 in the eighth minute and 3-0 in the 27th, with sophomore Kenny Caruso assisting the second of his goals. Caruso added a fourth first-half goal in the 36th off a feed from junior Justin Villamizer, who scored in the second half off Fitzgerald's assist.

Senior Danny Lindov opened the scoring in the first minute and classmate Jalen Beaton capped it in the 56th.

Junior Jayson Nardone scored to break up the shutout in the 68th and senior Riley Lafay added Brick's second goal in the 70th.

 

Class B Central

Point Beach 5, Henry Hudson 0

Junior Josh Boyan recorded a hat trick and also assisted a goal by senior Luke Zylinski to lead the Garnet Gulls (1-1) to a bounceback win over the Admirals after falling to Central in Tuesday's opener.

Freshman Logan Batyr scored the other goal for Point Beach, which made the score 3-0 in the 22nd minute off a pass from senior Tanner Curtis - the first of three assists for the senior captain.

St. Rose 8, Keyport 0

 

Class B South

Point Boro 4, Manchester 3 (OT)

Junior Alex Baginski buried a shot from beyond 20 yards 1:10 into overtime and the Panthers rallied to upend the Hawks in the back-and-forth season-opener for both teams.

The golden goal was Baginski's second of the game, with the junior striking for the first goal of the game in the 15th minute. Point Boro then extended its lead to 2-0 in the 24th on a goal by senior Aidan Huhn off an assist from junior Jared Elliot.

Manchester then responded with three unanswered goals, beginning with a goal by junior Muberaq Aderogba in the final minute of the first half. Sophomore Joey Kurak then scored the equalizer in the 51st and senior Jake Ruocchio gave the Hawks the 3-2 lead with a goal in the 66th.

Point Boro was not behind for long, however, with Elliot coming right back with a tying goal of his own in the 67th off a feed from sophomore John Witkowski.

Pinelands 8, Donovan Catholic 0

Senior Stephen DeMilio notched a hat trick and classmate James Cahill went off for two goals and two assists to lead an opening-day romp by the Wildcats over the Griffins.

Senior Tom Reilly and sophomore Dan Eberlin each added a goal and an assist for Pinelands, while sophomore Josiah Hart added the other Wildcats goal.
