Class A North

No. 1 CBA 1, No. 3 Marlboro 0

Senior Dylan Millevoi scored the game-winning goal on a counter-attack in the 79th minute and the Colts paid back Marlboro for handing CBA its only loss of 2022.

CBA successfully defended a corner kick with two minutes to go and senior defender Lawrence Mancino emerged with the ball on the run. He carried it to midfield and sent it 20 yards ahead to Millevoi, who dribbled through the back line to set up the winning strike.

Just 1:30 earlier, CBA senior defender Christian DeOliveira headed a free kick just over the crossbar.

No. 12 Middletown South 3, No. 13 Freehold Twp. 2

Senior Shawn McCann scored the winning goal in the 74th minute and the Eagles rallied from a 2-1 second-half deficit to upend the Patriots.

Sophomore Luke Strada had a hand in all three Middletown South goals. He scored Middletown South's first tally in the first half and assisted McCann's tiebreaking goal six minutes after he set up the equalizer by Mason Petke.

Vincenzo DiUbaldi scored both Freehold Township goals off passes from Alessandro Principato. DiUbadli got Freehold Township on the board in the 25th minute when he emerged out of a scramble following a corner kick by Alessandro Principato. He then gave the Patriots a 2-1 lead in the 51st minute off a chip from Principato.

 

Class A Central

No. 2 Holmdel 5, Red Bank 1

Junior Trey Cummings gave Red Bank a 1-0 lead with a goal in the third minute, but the Hornets countered with five unanswered goals from five different players to secure the opening-day win over the Bucs.

Stephan Kapranov tied the game with a goal in the 16th minute and senior Younis Kamel gave Holmdel the lead with a finish in the 18th. Kamel also assisted a goal by David Weiner in the 30th and Weiner set up Jaime Palmer's goal in the 35th.

Frankie Brusco capped the scoring with a goal in the 59th.

No. 15 Rumson-Fair Haven 2, Raritan 0

Senior Charlie Butters scored two goals after the 60th minute and the Bulldogs christened the new season with a shutout win over the Rockets.

Butters converted a feed from Addison Bellincampi to open the scoring in the 61st minute and put the game on ice with a finish in the 78th.

No. 16 Shore 2, No. 14 Wall 1 (OT)

Senior Max Eichenbaum buried a penalty kick 1:30 into the first overtime period after a takedown in the box and the Blue Devils outlasted the short-handed Crimson Knights in a game that featured off of its scoring in the final nine minutes of action.

After a yellow-red card took a man off the field late in the second half, Shore cashed in with the game's first goal, which senior Sean Newbert knocked in off a corner kick by junior Stephen Molnar in the 73rd minute.

Wall answered in the 77th, with junior Robert Keegan blasting a shot from inside the box for the man-down equalizer.

Class A South

Central 2, Jackson Memorial 1

Senior Dave Kroon assisted first-half goals by classmate Keith Swistock and junior Jordan Benzon and the Golden Eagles held on to knock off the Jaguars for an opening-day victory.

No. 11 Southern 5, Brick Memorial 1

Kaan Zinger scored a goal in each half while Matt Pleyn and Nick Prosperi each added a goal and an assist to lead the Rams attack in an opening-day win over the Mustangs.

Pleyn opened the scoring off a pass from Prosperi, then assisted Zenger's first goal to give Southern a 2-0 lead it would carry into halftime.

Juan Bahos sliced the Brick Memorial deficit in half with a goal early in the second half, but Zenger answered right back with his second goal. Prosperi added an insurance goal off a pass from Tyler Houghton and Pleyn set up sophomore Brody Nacarlo for a goal that capped the scoring.

No. 4 Toms River North 5, Toms River East 0

Christian Caso scored two goals and the Mariners overpowered the rival Raiders to open up their season in impressive fashion.

Anthony Ruggiero, Luke Montanile and Frank Toledo each finished a goal for Toms River North.

 

Class B North

No. 10 Manasquan 5, Neptune 0

Five different players scored goals with assists from five more as the Warriors rode a balanced, relentless attack to a win over the Scarlet Fliers.

Cruz Farkas opened the scoring in the 20th minute off a pass from Brandon Kunz and Shayne Bryne scored three minutes later off a set-up from Lucas Farkas.

Luke Roy and Cristian Gonzalez each added a goal before halftime off assists from Tristen Davalos-Guillen and Jake Coop. Luke Beavis then finished off the scoring in the second half off a service from Griffin Linstra.

Ocean 2, No. 9 Long Branch 0

Juniors Jacob Gomez and Noor Eraky scored within seven minutes of one another in the final 10 minutes and the Spartans capitalized vs. a shorthanded Green Wave side to score an opening-day win.

A red card in the 65th minute opened the door for Ocean and Gomez kicked it in during the 70th minute with the game's first goal. Eraky then put the game away with a finish in the 77th.

 

Class B Central

Point Beach 6, Henry Hudson 0

Dylan Ryan and Thomas Schulter each scored two goals as the Garnet Gulls posted five first-half goals on the way to an opening-day win over the Admirals.

Cody Monticello and Ryan each scored in the first five minutes to jumpstart Point Beach and Logan Batyr and Schulter scored within a minute of one another to make it 4-0 in the 27th and 28th minutes.

Ryan scored his second goal before halftime and Schulter accounted for the only score of the second half.

St. John Vianney 3, Keyport 0

Junior Anthony Marano scored in the 10th minute and assisted a goal by junior Kyle DiMarco in the 52nd to lead the Lancers to a season-opening win over the Red Raiders.

Marano scored off an assist from sophomore Alex Cardenas before finding DiMarco for the second SJV goal. Alex Siniscalchi capped the scoring in the 78th off a pass from fellow sophomore Ethan Bellone.

 

Class B South

Manchester 2, Brick 0

Senior Joey Kurak scored two goals and the Hawks blanked the Green Dragons to pick up an opening-day win.

Freshman Muiz Aderogba found Kurak for the first goal and Kurak converted a penalty kick for the second. Senior Noah Cundiff earned the clean sheet with eight saves.

Point Boro 2, Lacey 1

John Witkowski assisted a goal by fellow senior Owen Clearwaters in the 15th minute, then scored one for himself six minutes later as the Panthers used a fast start to top the Lions in their opener.

Witkowski got a touch on a throw-in by Chase Norling to set the table for Clearwaters, then finished off a feed from freshman Sean Hankins in the 21st.

Senior Mateo Pasqualichio got Lacey back in the game with a second-half goal off a pass from sophomore Aiden Schmitt.

Barnegat 2, Pinelands 1

Senior Julian Marfino scored two goals and junior goalkeeper Kyle Wright denied a penalty-kick chance late in the second half to lead the Bengals to a season-opening win over the Wildcats.

Senior Matt Sarfo staked Pinelands to a 1-0 lead with an early goal before Marfino responded in the 27th minute off a through-ball from freshman Nate Sisco. Marfino then buried the winner in the 52nd, with senior Connor Zarenkiewicz finding him for the finish.
