Class A North

No. 1 CBA 54, Howell 52

Sophomore Peter Noble scored a game-high 20 points with four three-pointers and the Colts (10-0, 5-0) escaped with a road win over the Rebels (5-4, 2-3) to remain undefeated.

Junior Will Bradley and senior Pat Lautato each added 13 points and came up with a huge play to help pull out the win. Bradley hit a go-ahead three-pointer to put CBA ahead, 48-47, after Howell had taken the lead and Lautato came up with the steal to seal the win with three seconds left and ran out the clock.

Senior Zach Emery led Howell with 17 points and classmate Dylan McVeigh added 14. Junior Damien Padilla also posted eight points, 16 rebounds, five assists and five blocks while senior Joe Dupuis added eight points, seven rebounds and three blocks for Howell.

Freehold Twp. 62, Middletown South 59

Junior Jayden Holmes-Cotter went off for 29 points and 17 rebounds as the Patriots (6-3, 3-1) held off another strong fourth quarter from the Eagles (2-6, 0-3) to pick up their fifth win in the last six games.

Senior Sean Keegan added 11 points for Freehold Township, which led, 34-19, at the half and 51-40 at the end of the third quarter.

Senior Tom Schork poured in 22 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked four shots to lead Middletown South, which pulled within one at 60-59 and had a chance to tie it on a three-pointer by junior Dylan Csik (13 points, four assists) that missed the mark in the final seconds.

Junior Tom Brown also contributed 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Eagles.

On Tuesday, Middletown South cut a 60-44 deficit to 70-65 at CBA before ultimately falling, 78-72, to the Shore's top-ranked team.

 

Class A Central

No. 9 Raritan 77, Holmdel 62

Junior Jack O'Leary scored 22 points and the Rockets (5-1, 1-1) pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat the Hornets (5-5, 2-2) on the road.

Senior Tazaya Smith and Justin Rivera each added 16 points for Raritan, which won the second-half, 41-29. Smith keyed the second-half surge by scoring all 16 of his points after halftime, while O'Leary pace the Rockets with 15 in the first half.

Freshman Evan Roman led Holmdel with 23 points sophomore Nick Seeloch poured in 16 and sophomore Ben Kipnis added 11 in the loss.

 

Class B North

Red Bank 51, Colts Neck 46

Junior Nick Valentino poured in a game-high 23 points to help the Bucs (4-4, 2-0) top the Cougars (4-5, 1-3). Senior Joe Caruso added nine points for Red Bank, which built a double-digit lead by halftime before holding on in the fourth.

Junior Will Surdez led Colts Neck with 19 points and classmate Eric Lavin added 10 in the loss.

Neptune 35, Freehold Boro 34

Junior Davionne Pearson scored nine points and senior Matteo Andrews added eight points and eight rebounds to help lead the Scarlet Fliers (2-5, 1-2) to a tight win over the Colonials (0-10, 0-4).

No. 5 St. John Vianney 47, No. 10 Middletown North 45

Senior Omar Calderon scored the go-ahead basket on a putback with 18 second left and the Lancers (10-2, 4-0) battled back to beat the Lions (4-4, 2-1) for their 10th win of the season.

Middletown North led, 43-36, with 3:55 left thanks to a 10-0 run but senior Nate Williams hit a jumper, found Calderon for a layup and later converted a three-point play to tie the game, 45-45, with 1:34 left.

Williams finished with a game-high 17 points, while Calderon added 12 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Dylan Seay also contributed eight points, eight rebounds and five assists for St. John Vianney.

Tommy Giannone led Middletown North with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. He got the last shot of the game, missing a contested three-point shot from the top of the key that would have won it if on-target.

Junior Zac Searight added 10 points and seven rebounds for Middletown North.

 

Class B Central

Point Beach 71, Henry Hudson 39

Junior Kevin Burns scored 21 points and classmate Stephen Seaman as the Garnet Gulls (4-1, 2-1) strolled to a win over the Admirals (1-5, 0-3).

Seniors Demitrius Harvey and Quinn Casey each scored 11 points to lead Henry Hudson.

 

Class B South

Donovan Catholic 56, Barnegat 43

Senior Vin Coburn scored 19 points and classmate Alex Melon added 16 to help spark the Griffins (6-3, 4-1) to a win over the Bengals (2-7, 1-2).

Senior Kyree Drake also netted nine points for Donovan Catholic.

Sophomore Shikeith Gordon led Barnegat with eight points.

Pinelands 36, Brick 34

Senior Daniel McCarthy scored 14 points and the Wildcats (3-2, 2-1) fought off the Green Dragons (4-6, 1-4) to pick up the road win.

Senior Darren Barreau added 11 points, while seniors Rian O'Rourke (six) and Aiden Skeie (five) rounded out the Pinelands scoring.

Junior Alex Jenkoski led Brick with 12 points on four three-pointers and senior Rob Giovine added eight points in the loss.

 

Non-Division

Matawan 63, Monmouth 48

 

Non-Conference

No. 4 Ranney 55, Rancho Solano Prep (Az.) 50

Junior Isaac Hester scored 17 points to go with four assists and three steals while senior Charles Anyichie posted 14 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, eight blocks and three steals to ignite the Panthers (6-1) over Rancho Solano out of Arizona.

Junior Zack Davis also chipped in 10 points for Ranney.

Keyport 86, Highland Park 46

D.J. Thomson, George Mitchell and Anthony Longo combined for 62 points on Senior Night and the Red Raiders (6-1) cruised to a win over the Owls (2-4).

Thomson led the way with 24 points while both Mitchell and Longo scored 19 apiece.
