CLASS B SOUTH

Lakewood 30, Lacey 22

A 5-yard touchdown run by junior quarterback Zyhier Jones with 47 seconds left in regulation snapped a tie and gave the Piners (4-0, 4-0) a comeback win over the Lions (3-2, 2-2).

A 3-yard touchdown run by junior quarterback Coleton Kluas put Lacey up 22-16 with 6:12 remaining, but a 72-yard punt return touchdown by Lakewood senior Honore Richardson tied the score with 3:02 to play. An interception by Zion Tinnery gave Lakewood the ball back, and Jones led a four-play, 37-yard scoring drive for the win. The Piners converted on fourth-and-6 when Jones hit Richardson for a 28-yard gain to set up the go-ahead touchdown.

Jones ran for 143 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries and threw for 130 yards and a score on 10 of 22 passing, and also converted two 2-point conversions with a pass and a rush. NONCONFERENCE

Keyport 14, Middlesex 13

A long fumble return for a touchdown by Rayquan Brown stood up as the winning touchdown as the Red Raiders (4-1) rallied past the Blue Jays (0-5).

Keyport fell behind 13-0 early when Middlesex scored two touchdowns off a fumble recovery and a blocked punt. Sophomore running back Greg Robinson scored on a short run to cut the deficit to 13-7 before halftime. Zack Frick had double-digit tackles and Brown also had an interception to lead a Keyport defense that limited the Blue Jays to 120 yards of offense.

Marlboro 20, East Brunswick 14 (OT)

Junior running back Jonny Helff scored on a 31-yard touchdown in overtime to give the Mustangs (2-3) a thrilling win over the Bears (1-3).

Helff scored all three touchdowns for Marlboro, and came up huge in relief of starting running back and the Shore's leading rusher, Cameron Caorsi, who left the game in the third quarter with an injury. Helff caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Moore in the second quarter and ran for a 1-yard touchdown in the third quarter. He ran for 145 yards in the second half and overtime to help the Mustangs pull out the win. Caorsi had 114 yards on 19 carries in the first half.
