WATCH: Garnet Gulls Turn the Tide Late

With eager spectators lined up outside the gymnasium doors of Point Pleasant Beach High School up to two hours before the start of the match, it was clear that our Jersey Mike's Match of the Week would be a tough ticket. The stands filled well in advance of the 7 PM scheduled start time as fans from both schools were excited to see the Garnet Gulls and Panthers battle it out on the mat. While Point Boro took an 18-0 lead after three bouts and a 21-3 advantage after five, Point Beach would have the last laugh. Not only did the Garnet Gulls battle to back to win the match 28-27 on criteria (Beach won eight bouts to Boro's six), they snapped a 22-year losing streak to their crosstown rivals.
