Class A South

Toms River South 1, Central 0

Junior Kenny Caruso scored on a volley to the upper 90 two minutes before the half and the Indians held on to blank the Golden Eagles in the season-opener for both teams. Junior Owen Heale saved 12 shots to earn the shutout, while counterpart Trevor Policastro came up with 10.

 

Class B Central

Point Beach 5, Keyport 1

Senior Josh Boyan scored a second-half goal and assisted the other four to lead the Garnet Gulls to a win over the Red Raiders for first-year head coach John Palumbo's first career win.

Junior Ronan Lynch scored the first Point Beach goal in the 10th minute and punched in two goals in the final four minutes of the half to deflate Keyport. Junior Jimmy Borowski scored in the 36th minute and sophomore Cody Monticello followed in the 38th for a 3-0 Gulls lead at intermission.

Boyan then got himself a goal off a feed from freshman Dylan Ryan in the 48th minute and junior Thomas Schulter capped the scoring for Point Beach in the 60th minute.

Sophomore Brayan Rodriguez scored the lone Keyport goal, which came in the 70th minute.

 

Class B South

Donovan Catholic 2, Lakewood 1

Junior Angel Lopez scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute and the Griffins rallied from a one-goal deficit to beat the Piners, snapping a 10-game division losing streak that dated back to October of 2020.

Freshman Max Durazzo drew Donovan Catholic even in the 54th minute with his first varsity goal, which came off a feed from senior Peyton Calvetto. Lakewood had grabbed the lead in the 30th minute on a goal by senior Flavio Garista.
