Junior Jaime Palmer and senior Colin Hynes each scored in the first half and the Hornets held off an Ocean push to equalize to score a win over the Spartans.
Palmer gathered the ball off a short throw-in on the left side of the field and struck a bold shot that he tucked into the far right side netting for a 1-0 Holmdel lead in the seventh minute.
In the 30th minute, Hynes made a diagonal run from right to left, took a pass from junior Frankie Busco and slipped another shot that tickled the far-side netting, this time putting Holmdel ahead, 2-0.
Palmer nearly extended the lead to 3-0 early in the second half with a header that sailed just clear of the crossbar.
After dodging a three-goal deficit, Ocean came alive and cut its deficit in half. Sophomore Noor Eraky pounced on an attempted clearance just beyond the top of the 18-yard box and slammed a shot that sneaked inside the left post for Ocean's first and only goal.
Matawan 4, Monmouth 2
Alejandro Cortez scored two goals and the Huskies beat the Falcons to run their unbeaten streak to four games. Sean Hart and Andrew Battipataglia also scored a goal apiece for Matawan, which has gone 3-0-1 over its last four matches after losing three straight leading into this current four-game stretch.
Phil Barbosa scored both Monmouth goals.
St. Rose 2, Lacey 1
Junior Diego Nieves assisted second-half goals by Mike Conlon and Aiden Bonczek and the Purple Roses rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit to upend the Lions.
Junior Mateo Pasqualichio scored the lone Lacey goal, which gave the Lions a 1-0 lead in the first half.
No. 8 Howell 1, No. 10 Colts Neck 0
Senior Nick Spisak scored the game's lone goal midway through the second half and the Rebels battled past the Cougars for a road win.
Manchester 4, Keyport 0
Senior Evan Weiner scored two goals as the Hawks rolled to a win over the Red Raiders. Juniors Joey Kurak and Joel Panora each added a goal for Manchester.
Middletown North 5, No. 9 Long Branch 1
Senior Mike Colantino scored two goals and assisted another to lead the Lions in a rout of the Green Wave.
Sophomore Josiah Stepney added a goal and an assist, while Nick Dean and sophomore Ryan Barnao each notched a goal as well for Middletown North.
Senior Anthony Vasquez scored the lone Long Branch goal, which came in the second half.
Neptune 1, Jackson Liberty 0 (OT)
Senior Ernst Louisius scored the golden goal and the Scarlet Fliers prevailed with an extra-time win over the Lions.
Raritan 2, St. John Vianney 2
Raritan junior Stefan Cojocariu scored the equalizer in the 76th minute and the Rockets salvaged a road draw against the Lancers.
St. John Vianney senior Danny Herndon assisted a goal by sophomore Anthony Marano five minutes into the match and scored one of his own in the 33rd minute that gave the Lancers a 2-1 lead. Raritan's first goal was an own goal to tie the game, 1-1, midway through the first half.
