James Volpe Foundation preparing for 3rd Annual Winter Dinner Dance
The James Volpe Foundation, a Jackson based non-profit, is holding their 3rd annual Winter Dinner Dance in honor of the former Jackson Memorial High School baseball player.
It takes place March 3 at the Knights of Columbus building on Bartley Road.
Vice-President of the foundation John Mucia says the money raised will go to scholarships for high school students.
"We donate all of our money back into the community through various forms of donations for scholarships to pay for different kids to be able to play sports," Mucia said. "We'll fund their registration fees if their family can't afford to."
You have to be 18 to attend and of course 21 to drink alcohol at the event but Mucia says everyone can enjoy a night of food, friends and entertainment.
"They're going to get unlimited buffet style food and dessert along with beer and wine to drink," Mucia said. "We'll also have a DJ, a 50-50 and door prizes."
Seating is limited so he encourages everyone interested in attending to buy tickets sooner rather than later.
"The past two years we have sold the event out completely," Mucia said. "Tickets are available and we are going to cap it at 120-people."
Even if you can't attend but still want to help support the cause with a donation, there is a way.
"You can always make a donation on our website, www.jamesvolpefoundation.org," Mucia said.
The foundation honors the memory of the late James Volpe, a Jackson Memorial High School senior who was killed in a 2011 car crash in Manchester Township.
