Week 6

1. Red Bank Catholic (14-3) Previous Rank: 1 - RBC started the week defeating No. 11 Howell and No. 9 Rumson to remain undefeated in the Shore Conference. They ended the week losing to nationally ranked Long Island Lutheran (NY) 77-59. The Caseys were tied at halftime 30-30 with the No. 2 team in the country.  RBC has a busy week, playing five games Monday to Sunday. They open on the road Monday at Manalapan and then play two Class B North games. They host Middletown South on Tuesday and travel to No. 5 Red Bank Regional on Thursday. Over the weekend they play in the Coaches Choice USA at Holmdel. Saturday they play Union City and Sunday they play Rutgers Prep, who is ranked in the top five in New Jersey.

2. St. John Vianney (13-5) Previous Rank: 3 - SJV started the week winning three games, two against Class A Coastal teams. They opened up the week by defeating Long Branch and Freehold Boro to remain undefeated in A Coastal. They followed that by defeating Ewing, who is ranked in the top ten in New Jersey, on the road 67-38. Sunday the Lady Lancers fell to Montclair Immaculate in the Mecca Showcase 48-42. SJV hosts No. 8 Wall on Monday and travels to No. 4 St. Rose on Wednesday. Saturday they travel to Mainland who is ranked in the top ten in New Jersey and end the regular season against the No. 1 team in New Jersey Morris Catholic on Sunday in the Winter Classic. 

3. Ocean Township (15-3) Previous Rank: 4 - Ocean picked up two Class B Central wins this week against Shore Regional and Donovan Catholic to clinch the division. They lost to Mainland, who is ranked in New Jersey, 59-47. Ocean hosts No. 13 Holmdel on Monday and travels to Henry Hudson on Thursday. Saturday they play St. Thomas Aquinas in the Coaches Choice USA at Holmdel.

4. St. Rose (14-5) Previous Rank: 8 - St. Rose is quickly becoming one of the most dangerous teams in the Shore Conference after defeating three teams ranked in the top ten in the Shore 16. They started the week defeating rival Manasquan 49-41, outscoring the Warriors 20-10 in the 4th quarter. They followed that with victories over No. 7 Wall and an overtime victory over No. 5 Trinity Hall. St. Rose, who already has played one of the most challenging schedules of the season, plays No. 14 Neptune on Monday to finish Class B Coastal division play and host No. 2 SJV on Wednesday. Sunday they play Gill St. Bernard’s in the Coaches Choice USA at Holmdel. 

5. Manasquan (13-2) Previous Rank: 2 - Manasquan lost to rival No. 8 St. Rose to start the week. The Warriors led by as much as 16-4 in the 1st quarter, but were outscored 20-10 in the 4th quarter. Manasquan bounced back with wins against No. 15 Point Boro and Lenape in a non-conference game. Manasquan wraps up their regular season hosting Matawan on Tuesday and travels to No. 12 Ranney on Thursday. Sunday they play Paul VI in the Coaches Choice USA at Holmdel. 

6. Red Bank Regional (10-4) Previous Rank: 6 -.RBR is currently on a six game winning streak, picking up three wins last week. They opened the week defeating Middletown North and Middletown South in Class B North action. The Bucs ended the week defeating Gloucester Catholic in the Calvi Electric Girls Basketball Shootout. RBR wraps up division play this week, traveling to Colts Neck on Tuesday and hosting No. 1 Red Bank Catholic on Thursday. Saturday they host Ocean City and on Sunday they play Bayonne, who is ranked in the top 20 in New Jersey, in the Winter Classic. 

7. Trinity Hall (11-6) Previous Rank: 5 - Trinity Hall opened the week defeating Marlboro in a Class A North game 53-28. Trinity Hall lost to No. 8 St. Rose in overtime 42-36. Trinity Hall hosts Manalapan on Tuesday in a divisional game and No. 10 Manchester on Wednesday in a non-divisional game. The Monarchs travel to Freehold Township on Friday and Sunday they play Chatham in the Winter Classic. 

 

8. Wall (13-4) Previous Rank: 7 - Wall started the week with a division win over No. 14 Neptune 52-43. They lost their second out of their last three games against rival St. Rose, who was ranked No. 8 at the time, 70-47. Wall’s schedule does not get any easier as they travel to No. 2 SJV on Monday. Tuesday they host Monmouth and Friday they travel to Freehold Boro. Saturday they play Notre Dame in the Coaches Choice USA at Holmdel. 
9. Rumson-Fair Haven (10-6) Previous Rank: 9 - Rumson played three Class B North games, going 2-1 during the week. They defeated Colts Neck 50-33 and Middletown North 52-20, but fell to No. 1 RBC 66-35. Rumson hosts Freehold Township on Monday and No. 11 Howell on Tuesday. Thursday they finish division play against Middletown South and Sunday they play Ewing, who is ranked in the top ten in New Jersey, at the Coaches Choice USA at Holmdel. 

 

10. Manchester (12-5) Previous Rank: 10 - Manchester had a busy week going 3-1 as they close in on the Class B South title. They defeated Lacey, Pinelands and Central Regional in division play last week. They fell to Holy Spirit 59-54 on Saturday in a non-conference game. Monday they finish B South play hosting Brick Township. Wednesday they travel to No. 7 Trinity Hall and Thursday they go to Brick Memorial. Manchester ends the week on the road against Egg Harbor.

 

11. Howell (12-4) Previous Rank: 11 - Howell started the week falling to No. 1 RBC, but picked up two non-conference wins against College Achieve Central and Highland to end the week. This week they travel to No. 9 Rumson on Tuesday and host Donovan Catholic on Wednesday. They end the week hosting Manalapan in a Class A North match-up and travel to Middle Township for a non-conference game. 

12. Ranney (7-8) Previous Rank: 12 - Ranney snapped a three game losing streak this week, defeating Raritan and No. 14 Neptune. They are on the outside of the SCT looking in and need to go 2-1 this week to qualify. They travel to No. 15 Point Boro on Tuesday and host No. 5 Manasquan on Thursday. Saturday they host Lower Cape May, which can decide Ranney’s fate. 

13. Holmdel (9-6) Previous Rank: 13 - Holmdel went 3-0 last week, picking up two division wins against Freehold Boro and Matawan. They ended the week defeating No. 15 Point Boro 63-55. Holmdel travels to No. 3 Ocean Township on Monday and hosts Long Branch on Tuesday. Friday they finish Class A Coastal play against Raritan and Saturday they play Franklin in the Coaches Choice USA at Holmdel. 

14.  Neptune (13-7) Previous Rank: 14 - Neptune had a chance to make a statement last week, playing two teams ranked above them in the Shore 16, but lost No. 7 Wall and No. 12 Ranney.  They rebounded and defeated Lacey to end the week. This week they travel No. 4 St. Rose on Monday and Middletown North on Wednesday. They end their regular season hosting No. 15 Point Boro on Thursday. 

15 (T). Southern Regional (14-3) Previous Rank: Not Ranked - Southern is on a nine game win streak, winning four games last week. They defeated Pinelands, Marlboro and Freehold Township in non-divisional games and defeated Toms River South to remain undefeated in Class A South. This week they host Toms River East on Monday in Class A South action. If they defeat the Raiders they will host No. 16 Jackson Memorial on Thursday to decide the division title. 

15 (T).  Jackson Memorial (12-3) Previous Rank: 16 - Jackson Memorial is on a six game winning streak, winning three division games last week to remain undefeated in Class A South. Their wins against Toms River East and Toms River North both went to the buzzer to decide the winner. This week they host Toms River South on Tuesday and if they win they travel to Southern on Thursday to decide the Class A South title. Saturday they host Middletown North in a non-divisional game. 

16. Point Pleasant Boro (9-7) Previous Rank: 15 - The Panthers went 1-2 last week, defeating Matawan in a non-divisional match-up and dropping games to Shore 16 ranked teams No. 2 Manasquan and No. 13 Holmdel. They host No. 12 Ranney on Tuesday and travel to No. 14 Neptune on Wednesday in Class B Coastal action. They end the week on Saturday at Brick Township.
