The Block GameDay Countdown takes us to Raritan tonight where the Rockets host Rumson-Fair Haven in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 championship game.

The top-seeded Rockets (8-2) have beaten Middle Township and Pleasantville to reach the sectional final as they shoot for their third title and first since 2015.  Meanwhile, the visiting Bulldogs (6-4) are pretty much regulars in the finals and are aiming for their seventh overall title with the last coming in 2018. Rumson has eliminated Monmouth and Oakcrest and allowed just six points in the two playoff games.

The winner of this all-Shore matchup will advance to the first-ever overall Group 2 semifinals next weekend against either Gloucester City or Willingboro.

At halftime of the game, the Shore Sports Network will present a special award to Raritan HS for being voted as having the best football concession stand in the Shore Conference.  The Rockets will receive a trophy and a $250 gift card from Jersey Mike's which sponsored the online voting competition.

Weather permitting, if you are heading to the game then look for the Shore Sports Network SUV next to the concession stand and stop by and register to win a $100 “Block Box” of assorted 100% all-natural prime meat and more.  It’s all from The Butcher’s Block Butcher & Table in Long Branch which has taken the Shore by storm.

You can sign-up through halftime and then between the 3rd & 4th quarters we will have the PA Announcer read the name of one randomly selected person who will win the $100 “Block Box.” Also, follow us on the Shore Sports Network Facebook page as I’ll provide a scene-setter for the game as well as updates throughout the evening.
