Football – Week 5 Plays of the Week
Welcome to the 2017 edition of the Shore Sports Network’s top plays, highlighting the most dazzling and exciting moments from Shore Conference football action.
This week we take a look at the top clips from Week 5. We can’t be filming every game at once, so if you have a great clip on YouTube, Vimeo or some other service where it can be embedded, or if you have the raw video file, feel free to email me a link at email@example.com or tweet it to me at @Bob_Badders.
Let’s get to some of the best plays from the Week 5 games.
10. Stretch the Fields
We start things off with Long Branch wide receiver Pasa Fields, who gets behind the Middletown South secondary for an 80-yard touchdown strike from quarterback Juwan Wilkins.
9. Spin Cycle
Donovan Catholic sophomore running back Damian Johnson had a career day in a 49-26 win over Pinelands with over 250 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns. Here is spins out of trouble to break free on a 25-yard touchdown run.
8. La La La La La Lombana
We break from the regular Zack Bair highlights for RBC to bring you senior wide receiver Brandon Lombana taking a reverse 50 yards to the house during the Caseys' 45-19 win over Wall. Nice job by Lombana at the end of the run to shake a defender and muscle his way through another to reach the end zone.
The most impressive part of this 81-yard punt return for a touchdown by Howell's Naseim "Naz" Brantly is how quickly he eats up yards. Once he gets going his stride is effortless.
6. Mo Touchdowns
This is a great all-around play by Barnegat defensive end Sean Morris, diagnosing a screen, shedding his blocker and intercepting the pass before taking it back 65 yards for a touchdown in the Bengals' 27-7 win over Jackson Liberty.
5. Justin Time
This play was the start of an offensive explosion for Keansburg in its 51-43 win over Point Beach. Alessi makes a great play to haul in this 20-yard touchdown catch in the back of the end zone on fourth-and-17.
4. Barnett Breakout
Southern's Matt Barnett is a big-play threat each week, and he came through against Jackson Memorial with a 72-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Check out the tight spin move in traffic to create some room and break free for the score.
3. Dixon Dash
It isn't only Ashante Worthy who can turn in highlight-reel plays for Freehold. Freshman running back Ahmad Dixon puts on some great moves to score on a 65-yard touchdown in a 56-14 win over Monroe.
2. Greg's Great Grab
With the game hanging in the balance, Lacey junior linebacker Greg Chadwick dives to make the game-clinching interception at the 5-yard line in a heart-stopping 34-33 win over Lakewood.
1. Interstate 94
Toms River East's Nick Silvia reaches out with one hand to make the catch before racing 94 yards for a touchdown on a pass from quarterback Louie Gallo IV. The touchdown is tied for the longest play from scrimmage in the Shore Conference this season.
