Jarrett Pidgeon was approved as the new head football coach at Central Regional High School during Thursday night’s board of education meeting. Pidgeon succeeds Justin Fumando, who was not rehired after serving as the Golden Eagles’ head coach for four seasons.

Pidgeon has been an assistant coach at Central for the past six seasons, including serving as the Eagles defensive coordinator since 2016. He is a 2009 graduate of Southern Regional High School where he was a standout linebacker, helping the Rams go 10-2 and reach the program’s first sectional championship game in 2008. Pidgeon then attended Bloomsburg University where he was a captain and a three-year starter for the Huskies.

Central went 3-6 this past season but was a playoff team in 2017 and won seven games in both 2016 and 2017. Second Team All-Shore linebacker Imeer Johnson leads the group of rising seniors that also includes middle linebacker Vinnie Dallicardillo Jr., free safety Nick Sura, tight end Danny Tarris and offensive lineman Matt Rau.
