As the Jersey Shore BlueClaws get set for their longest home stand of the season it would be a good time to remind you of why home runs hit by the home team are so important.  The BlueClaws play the first of six games with Greenville beginning Tuesday night and following that Brooklyn comes into Shoretown Ballpark for another six games.  The home stand will feature several theme nights including Marvels Defenders of the Diamond with Spider-Man (May 26), Medusas de Jersey Shore (May 27), First Responders Night (June 2), Pride Night (June 3) and Bark in the Park (June 5).

Back to the home runs.  This is the 14th year of Home Runs for Heroes, a partnership between the BlueClaws, OceanFirst Foundation and WOBM/Townsquare Media which benefits charitable organizations that support active duty military families as well as veterans who have served our country.  Every time a BlueClaws player hits a home run in a home game $1000 is donated by the OceanFirst Foundation to the organization that is matched with that inning.  Since its inception the program has awarded over $500,000 in grants and this year there 14 charities involved with each paired with a specific inning of the game.  The 2022 participants and the inning they are matched with:
