Claws Swept in Hagerstown with 11-6 Loss
An early Lakewood lead did not hold up as Hagerstown completed a three-game sweep of the BlueClaws with an 11-6 win on Saturday.
The Suns (12-4) have now taken all seven meetings from the BlueClaws (4-11) so far this year.
After the Suns scored twice in the first inning, the BlueClaws took the lead with four runs in the second inning, including a two-run double by Samuel Hiciano and RBIs from Gabriel Lino and Robinson Torres. Lakewood added another run in the third inning to pull within 5-4 on a groundout by Willians Astudillo, but the Suns scored the next six runs to pull ahead for good.
Hagerstown scored at least once in each of the first six innings, including four times in the fourth inning, highlighted by a two-run double from Drew Ward. They also stole five bases in the game including two from lead-off hitter Isaac Ballou, who walked three times in his first four plate appearances, and scored all three times.
John Wooten had two hits and two RBIs while Estarlin Martinez had three hits in the game and seven in the series.
