No. 2 CBA 2, Long Branch 1

Senior Jack Gill scored the tie-breaking goal in the 58th minute and the Colts (3-0, 1-0) hung on to beat the Green Wave (2-2, 0-1) to extend their perfect start to the 2018 campaign.

Long Branch tied the game in the 48th minute on a goal by freshman Eduardo Ribiero, who also broke free for a breakaway shortly thereafter that CBA goalkeeper Eric Wnorowski saved.

Senior Dom Bellomo gave CBA a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 25th minute.

Class A Central

No. 1 Holmdel 7, Raritan 0

Senior Anthony Arena and junior Jack Giamanco each recorded a hat trick and one assist and the Hornets (2-0, 1-0) coasted to a win over the Rockets (0-3, 0-1). Senior Justin Orosz scored the other Holmdel goal.

Manasquan 1, Red Bank Catholic 0

Sophomore Tommy Johnson converted a penalty kick in the 23rd minute for the game's lone goal and the Warriors (2-1, 1-0) edged the Caseys (1-1, 1-0). Junior goalkeeper Joe Weinstein saved three shots to secure his second shutout in three games.

No. 8 Monmouth 2, Shore 1

Freshman Ethan Wallace scored the golden goal in the second overtime period off a pass from classmate Kaan Pehlivan and the Falcons (4-0, 1-0) rallied to beat the Blue Devils (0-4, 0-1) for their fourth straight win to open the season.

Senior Brian Waltsak scored the equalizer for Monmouth late in the second half after running onto a through-ball from senior Chris Anfuso.

Senior Brandon DeNovaes gave Shore an early 1-0 with an 18-yard strike.

 

Class B North

No. 3 Ocean 2, Middletown North 0

Senior Santieno Harding scored his fifth goal of the season to open the scoring in the 46th minute and Robert Lopes added a goal in the 73rd to pace the Spartans (3-0, 1-0) past the Lions (2-1, 0-1) for their third straight win to start the season. Max Winters saved four shots to secure his second shutout.

Wall 4, Red Bank 2

Senior Aidan Newbury scored two goals and assisted another by senior Riley Powers to spark the Crimson Knights (2-1, 1-0) to a win over the Bucs (1-2, 0-1).

Garibay made the score 2-0 off a pass from senior Sean Campbell in the 16th minute and converted a penalty kick in the 71st to give Wall an extra cushion at 4-2.

Powers also assisted a goal by junior Tagg Ancrum that made the scored 3-1 in the 49th minute.

Juniors Erik Christie and Jon Paul Valencia each scored their third goal of the season for Red Bank, with Christie's goal cutting the deficit to 2-1 in the 21st and Valencia's making it 3-2 in the 54th.

Colts Neck 2, Matawan 1

Mike Ricciardi scored the game-winning goal in the 68th minute to break a tie and give the Cougars (1-0, 1-0) a win over the Huskies (1-1, 0-1) in their first official game of the season.

Senior John Farhan staked Colts Neck to a 1-0 lead before junior Gavin Klamm scored the equalizer for Matawan before halftime.

Neptune 2, St. John Vianney 0

Senior Wilby Alfred set up a second-half goal by junior Ryan Gannon and scored an insurance goal to lead the Scarlet Fliers (2-0-1, 1-0-0) to a win over the Lancers (1-3, 0-1). Senior goalkeeper Seamus McAnee saved 11 shots to collect his second straight shutout.

 

Class B South

Lakewood 5, Manchester 1

Senior Giovanni Hernandez scored two goals in the first 7:18 of the match to spark the Piners (2-0-1, 2-0-0) to a win over the Hawks (0-2, 0-1). Hernandez also assisted a goal by junior Jonathan Toichihuitl in the 66th minute.

Senior Kristian Talas assisted the first goal by Hernandez in the fourth minute and senior Junior Bravo assisted the second in the eighth minute. Both Talas and Bravo went on to score a goal of their own, Talas in the 29th and Bravo in the 69th.

Jimmy Hinkson scored the lone Manchester goal in the 73rd minute.

Jackson Liberty 2, Donovan Catholic 0

Freshman Elton Canka scored a goal and assisted another by fellow freshman Stefano Solano to lead the Lions (1-1, 1-0) to a win over the Griffins (1-1, 0-1).
