Senior Patrick O'Dwyer ran onto a through-ball from senior Eryck Lazo and slid a left-footed shot to the far corner of the net in the 76th minute as the Green Wave (1-2-1, 1-0-0) stunned the No. 1 Colts (2-1, 0-1) for their first win of the season.
Junior Tyler Abbot earned the shutout in goal.
Freehold Boro 2, No. 8 Middletown South 0
Senior Noah Brower scored off a pass from junior Mike Romero-Vargas and Matt Mascolo tacked on an insurance goal with an assist from Jonathan Lopez as the Colonials (3-1, 1-0) blanked the Eagles (1-3, 0-2).
Marlboro 5, Manalapan 0
Senior Mitchell Katsman scored a dagger 30 seconds before the half to put Marlboro up by three goals and added another in the second half as the Mustangs (3-0, 2-0) routed the Braves (0-3, 0-1).
Senior Mike Steinberg opened the scoring in the 10th minute and senior Max Shushkovsky made it 2-0 with a goal in the 27th. Sophomore Max Rosen tacked on a fourth Marlboro goal in the 57th before Katsman capped the scoring in the 70th.
Class A Central
No. 3 Holmdel 3, Raritan 1
Senior Eric Hinds assisted a goal by classmate Jack Giamanco and scored one of his own in the final two minutes as the Hornets (4-0, 2-0) topped the Rockets (1-2, 0-1) for their fourth straight win to open the season.
Giamanco scored off Hinds's corner kick in the 11th minute and junior Ben Milstein scored seven minutes later off a pass from junior Connor Hinds to put Holmdel up 2-0. Connor Hinds also assisted his older brother's goal to finish off the scoring.
Senior Joe Seber scored Raritan's lone goal in the 60th minute, when he headed a set piece service from Mike Faulkner over Holmdel keeper Tommy Chyzowych.
Monmouth 2, Shore 0
Lucas Pereira and Mathis Quesada each scored first-half goals and the Falcons (5-0, 1-0) blanked the Blue Devils (1-3-1, 0-2-0) for their fifth straight win to open the season. Ethan Wallace set up Pereira's goal and Quesada scored on a volley from the edge of the 18-yard box.
No. 2 Manasquan 9, Red Bank Catholic 0
Senior Rich Maloney recorded his first career hat trick and sophomore Evan Pitzer dished out three assists as the Warriors (2-0, 1-0) rolled to a win over the Caseys (0-4, 0-1).
Junior Tommy Johnson and seniors Frank Manno, Tyler Guagenty and Drew Greenblatt each added a goal. Sophomore Jose Avilla and freshman Aiden Sugrue each scored as well to round out the Manasquan scoring.
Class B North
Middletown North 3, Ocean 2
Senior Pete Angelucci and juniors Alex Perez and Aidan Cardella all scored a goal apiece to help the Lions (5-0, 1-0) outlast the Spartans (0-3, 0-1) for their fifth straight win to open the season.
Senior Eli Brandimarte and sophomore Aidan Tisony scored the two Ocean goals.
Neptune 6, St. John Vianney 1
Senior Kyle Schembri scored two goals and assisted another to lead the Scarlet Fliers (4-1, 1-0) to a lopsided win over the Lancers (1-4, 0-1). Schembri upped his season total to eight goals in five Neptune games.
Senior Marvin Garcia added a goal and two assists, Randy Rojas pitched in a goal and an assist and senior Ryan Gannon dealt out two assists in the win. Senior Louis Pennington also scored a goal and junior goalkeeper Dayle Church got in on the action with his first goal.
No. 5 Wall 4, Red Bank 0
Senior Tagg Ancrum scored a goal and assisted another as the Crimson Knights (3-0, 1-0) coasted past the Bucs (1-2, 0-1) for their third straight shutout win to open the season.
Ancrum headed in a corner kick by sophomore Nico DellaPietro in the 34th minute to break a scoreless tie and assisted a goal by sophomore Terence Byrnes that made it 3-0 in the 47th.
Senior Matt Penkethman converted a corner kick in the second minute of the second half to extend Wall's lead to 2-0 and junior Phillip Lyons capped the scoring in the 62nd off a pass from sophomore Emmett Aravich.
Colts Neck 3, No. 10 Matawan 0
Sophomore David Tuschmann racked up a hat trick and the Cougars coasted to a win over the previously-unbeaten Huskies.
Senior Ely Ferro assisted Tuschmann's first goal in the 14th minute and the capper in the 72nd. Tuschmann extended Colts Neck's lead to 2-0 in the 46th off a pass from junior Derek Haaf.
Non-Division
No. 4 Jackson Memorial 2, Howell 1
Junior Drew Walenty slipped a shot to the far right netting off a pass from senior Gianluca Gruosso in the 62nd minute and the Jaguars pulled out another tough win over an A North team by beating the Rebels on the road.
Howell pulled even in the 50th minute when senior Kyle Lindemann blasted a 45-yard free kick that Jackson Memorial keeper Charlie Harrison lost in the sun and bounced into the goal for the equalizer.
Jackson Memorial jumped on top in the 20th on a point-blank header by senior Tyler Howlett. Senior Chase Olejarz served up a corner kick the the far left post, senior Ron Bantang headed it to the front of the goal and Howlett finished it out of the air.
