Class A North Player of the Week
Luke Pascarella, CBA
The No. 2 team at the Shore churned out four more wins this week with Pascarella leading the way with four goals in those four matches. The junior forward struck for two goals in a 5-1 win over Marlboro to open the week, then scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in Thursday’s win over Middletown South. Pascarella capped his week with a header goal in an impressive 4-1 win over Chaminade of N.Y. on Day 2 of the Green Wave Invitational at Delbarton.
A North Honorable Mention: Ryan Caruso, Manalapan; Jonathan Santos, Middletown South; Zach Orrico, Freehold Twp.; Bennett Messinger, Freehold Twp.; Rey Guzman, Long Branch; Patrick O’Dwyer, Long Branch; Rob Saunders, Howell
Class A Central Player of the Week
Alex Nichols, Red Bank Catholic
The Caseys handled their business against two opponents outside of Class A Central this week, beating Henry Hudson and Manchester by a combined score of 8-0. Nichols scored half of those eight Caseys goals, recording a hat trick in the 6-0 win over Henry Hudson and punching in another one in RBC’s 2-0 win over the Hawks.
A Central Honorable Mention: Drew Greenblatt, Manasquan; Jack Giamanco, Holmdel; Joe Arena, Holmdel; Ryan Bongarzone, Shore; Tommy Johnson, Manasquan; Anthony Sparacino, Raritan; John Duffy, RBC; Conor Creighton, Shore
Class A South Player of the Week
Ben Schnaak, Jackson Memorial
The Jaguars kept rolling along last week with two more Class A South wins, including a big one over rival Toms River South. Schnaak not only provided his usual defense on the back line but he also pushed forward for a goal in each of his team’s two wins. Schnaak scored one of the Jaguars’ five goals in a win over Brick Memorial and capped the scoring in the 3-0 win over the Indians.
A South Honorable Mention: Dan Russo, Jackson Memorial; Alex Heid, Toms River East; Logan Romero, Toms River East; Andrew Casey, Toms River North; Joe Schlageter, Jackson Memorial; Pete Kozlej, Toms River East; Danny Caruso, Toms River South
Class B North Player of the Week
Robert Lopes, Ocean
Even with most of its scoring punch back from last year, Ocean has welcomed the production of some newcomers. Lopes has been the surprise of the bunch after throwing together a big week for the Spartans in Week 3. The junior scored the game-winning goal in a critical 2-1 win over Neptune on Thursday and notched two more goals in a 5-2 win over Rumson-Fair Haven on Saturday.
B North Honorable Mention: Wilby Alfred, Neptune; Paul Tepedino, Colts Neck; Santieno Harding, Ocean; Riley Powers, Wall; Leo Montesinos, Ocean; John Volpe, Wall; Sean Campbell, Wall; Erik Christie, Red Bank; Brooks Condon, Colts Neck; Anthony Fiorello, Colts Neck; Johnny Traiono, SJV
Class B Central Player of the Week
Ademola Odunlami, Ranney
After starting the season 0-2, Ranney bounced back with a 3-0 week in Week 3 with wins over Henry Hudson, St. Rose and Mater Dei. Odunlami played a key role in each, scoring a goal each in the wins over Hudson and St. Rose and assisting the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Mater Dei. His goal vs. Henry Hudson ignited a comeback after the Panthers fell behind, 2-0, and his goal against St. Rose helped Ranney knock off the Purple Roses for the third time in four years.
B Central Honorable Mention: Charlie McCann, Ranney; Alex Atno, Point Beach; Ki Costa, Point Beach; Odhran King, Henry Hudson
Class B South Player of the Week
Kieran Sundermann, Pinelands
Pinelands has quietly recovered after a 0-2 start to the season and last week, the Wildcats continued to score in droves thanks to Sundermann’s offensive creativity. The senior forward recorded two goals and an assist in each of his team’s two wins last week – a 5-2 win over rival Point Boro and a 3-2 win over Shore.
B South Honorable Mention: Sean Moffitt, Lacey; Kip Byrne, Lacey; Junior Bravo, Lakewood; Miguel Andrade, Lacey; Kody Besser, Lacey; John Hart, Pinelands; Aniello Lubrano, Pinelands
Wild Cards
Ryan Caruso, Manalapan
If Manalapan’s Week 2 showed off the Braves’ collective pride after a 0-2 start, its Week 3 showed this could be a team to fear going forward. Last week, the Braves knocked off Freehold Township on the road and rallied to earn a draw against Long Branch, with Caruso contributing scoring in both. He scored the game-winner against the Patriots to open the week and scored three minutes into the Braves’ wild 2-2 draw with the Green Wave.
Sean Moffitt, Lacey
Kip Byrne has earned most of the headlines for a surging Lacey side, but Moffitt has proven to be an x-factor for a team currently on a five-game winning streak. The junior forward started his Week 3 with a hat trick in a 7-0 rout of St. Rose and finished it off with a game-sealing goal in a 2-0 win over Central. In between, Moffitt also dished out an assist in a 3-0 win over Donovan Catholic.
