Each week during the 2022 soccer season, Shore Sports Network will recognize some of the top performers in the Shore Conference over the calendar week and give the fans of the Shore Conference to vote for the overall winner for the Player of the Week. There will be eight candidates, including six Players of the Week from each of the Shore Conference divisions as well as two wild cards.

This week's candidates were selected based on their performances from Monday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 25. Read about the exploits of the eight candidates and vote for the best of the best to win the latest Player of the Week competition of the 2022 season.

Vote once per hour until the poll closes on Thursday at 10 p.m. The winner will be announced on Friday and awarded a $25 gift card to Surf Taco.

Class A North Player of the Week

Shawn McCann, Middletown South

After an eye-opening 2-0 start, Middletown South dropped three straight games and it appeared as though the fast start might have been a fluke. Not so: the Eagles rebounded in a big way this past week by taking down Marlboro and earning a draw vs. Middletown South. Shawn McCann got involved in both results by scoring a goal in each, including the first goal in that big 2-0 win over Marlboro.

Class A North Honorable Mention: Ryan Barnao, Middletown North; Tyler Santos, Freehold Twp.; Jake Visco, Freehold Twp.; Tim Bertscha, Freehold Twp.; Ammar Danish, Freehold Boro; Ano Anzivino, Manalapan; Dylan Millevoi, CBA; Cam D’Alterio, CBA; Will Thygeson, CBA

Class A Central Player of the Week

Ronan Hogg, Rumson-Fair Haven

With four goals in three games, Hogg was the top scorer for Rumson during a huge week for the Bulldogs. The sophomore scored twice in a 5-1 win over Monmouth, then scored the first of Rumson’s two goals in a massive, overtime win over Holmdel. Hogg then earned and converted a penalty kick in a 1-1 draw vs. Marlboro on Saturday.

Class A South Player of the Week

Aidan Antonio, Southern

After a slow, 0-3 start, Southern has found its groove with three consecutive wins since. Two of those came during this past week and Antonio led the goal-scoring effort in both. Antonio followed that up with the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Lacey, which came in the first two minutes of action.

Class A South Honorable Mention: Blake Crutchley, Central; Shann Moon, Jackson Memorial; Anthony Ruggiero, Toms River North

Class B North Player of the Week

Anthony Vasquez, Long Branch

The Green Wave got right back in the Class B North with a pair of wins this week over Colts Neck and Manasquan. Vasquez made a major impact in both, notching a goal and an assist in a 4-0 rout of Colts Neck, then scoring the golden goal in Saturday’s come-from-behind, 2-1 win over the Warriors.

Class B Central Player of the Week

Jack Tiernan, St. Rose

It was a week of mixed results for St. Rose, which came back to earn a 2-2 draw against No. 10 Colts Neck, handled Asbury Park, then dropped a 3-1 decision to previously-winless Freehold Boro. Tiernan came through with three goals during the week, scoring the first goal of the comeback at Colts Neck and putting up two in the 6-0 win over Asbury Park.

Wild Cards

Shann Moon, Jackson Memorial

Jackson Memorial stared down a challenging, four-game week and pulled out a 2-2 record with losses to Southern and Ocean. Moon came through in the two wins, logging a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Passaic Tech and scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 win over St. John Vianney.

Jake Petillo, Wall

Wall picked up three crucial wins this week, knocking off Shore, Monmouth and Toms River East. Petillo contributed to the scoring in all three, starting off with an assist in the 2-0 win over Shore. He then picked up a goal in the 2-0 win over Monmouth and capped the week by scoring one and assisting the other in a 2-1, comeback win over Toms River East.
