Junior Matt Glynn scored once and assisted goals by senior Danny Minze and Ethan Dreyer as the Eagles (3-3, 1-2) beat the Green Wave (1-3-1, 1-1-0) by striking for three first-half goals.

No. 5 Marlboro 1, No. 3 CBA 0

Senior Mike Steinberg scored off a feed from senior Mitchell Katsman three minutes into the match and the Mustangs (5-0, 3-0) held on to knock off the Colts (3-2, 1-2) and win their fifth straight to open the season.

 

Class A Central

Raritan 3, Red Bank Catholic 0

Senior Connor Smith scored two goals and classmate Joe Seber added a goal and an assist to help the Rockets (3-2, 1-1) roll to a win over the Caseys (0-6, 0-2).

 

Class A South

No. 7 Southern 4, Toms River East 0

Junior Kevin Kiernan scored his sixth goal of the season and the Rams (4-0-1, 2-0-1) rolled to a win over the Raiders (3-2-1, 1-2-1). Sophomore Mario Addiego, sophomore Luke Hart and junior Ryan Leavitt each added a goal while junior Kayce Bennet picked up his third shutout in five games.

Class B North

Matawan 3, No. 4 Wall 1

Tommy Zalepka scored the tiebreaking goal in the 60th minute and Tommy Arendt added an insurance goal 10 minutes later as the Huskies (3-2-1, 1-1-0) handed the Crimson Knights (4-1, 1-1) their first loss of the season.

Senior Gavin Klamm tied the game for Matawan with a goal in the first half after juior Nick DellaPietro scored to give Wall a 1-0 lead.

No. 8 Middletown North 2, St. John Vianney 0

Juniors Aidan Cardella and Alex Perez each scored a goal and the Lions (6-1, 2-0) blanked the Lancers (1-5-1, 0-2-0) to bounce back from their first loss of the season - an overtime defeat Saturday vs. Steinert.

Ocean 1, Red Bank 0

Senior Eli Brandimarte knocked in a free kick by sophomore Brian Miranda in the fourth minute and the Spartans (2-3, 1-1) defense and senior goalkeeper Isaac Greenspan made it hold up in a shutout win over the Bucs (2-3, 0-2).

Greenspan saved 16 shots to help Ocean overcome a 20-12 disadvantage in shots and win its second straight after starting 0-3.

 

Non-Division

No. 2 Jackson Memorial 2, No. 6 Manasquan 1 (OT)

Junior Drew Walenty scored the golden goal in the 98th minute and the Jaguars (7-0) won their seventh straight while handing the Warriors (2-3) their third straight golden goal loss and second in as many days.

Walenty ran onto a pass from sophomore Steven Bado touched it past the last line of defenders, and fired a shot just over the reach of leaping Manasquan keeper Joe Weinstein and inside the far right post with a little more than two minutes left in the second and final overtime period.

Manasquan tied the game in the 58th when senior and former Jackson Memorial midfielder Drew Greenblatt headed in a cross from senior Frank Manno. Greenblat and Weinstein both transferred from Jackson Memorial to Manasquan before their junior seasons last year.

Jackson Memorial jumped on top in the 18th on a penalty kick by senior Chase Olejarz.

Asbury Park 5, Lakewood 2

Jean Salomon scored two goals - one in each half - and the Blue Bishops (2-4) snapped a four-game skid by taking down the Piners (0-5).

Jaquan Lunsford opened the Asbury Park scoring and Woodley Cagilus scored another to make it 2-0. Jesus Avila responed with Lakewood's first goal but Asbury Park answered with goals by Salomon and Davenson JoinVilmar before halftime.
