Senior Trevor Cusick notched a pair of goals and the Jaguars rolled to a win over the rival Lions. Senior Gianluca Gruosso, junior Zack Rogacki and sophomore Anthony Viola each contributed a goal.

No. 6 Wall 2, Freehold Boro 0

Senor Tagg Ancrum struck for the game's first goal int he 29th minute and sophomore Terence Byrnes added an insurance score in the 44th off a feed from junior Jake Pepe as the Crimson Knights (1-0) opened their season with a win over the Colonials (1-1).

Howell 2, No. 9 Toms River South 0

Senior Mike Anello scored two minutes into the second half and added another in the 65th minute to spark the Rebels (1-0) to a win over the Indians (0-1) in the opener for both squads.

Neptune 9, Lakewood 0

Senior Kyle Schembri recorded a hat trick and classmate Ryan Gannon posted two goals and four assists to lead the Scarlet Fliers in a rout of the Piners. Junior Steven Camacho and senior Louis Pennington each added a goal and an assist while Marvin Garcia and Charlie Wilson chipped in a goal apiece.

Middletown North 2, Long Branch 1

Senior Pete Angelucci scored a goal and assisted the winner by junior Aidan Cardella as the Lions (2-0) topped the Green Wave (0-2) for their second straight win to open the season. Angelucci tied the game with his goal and Cardella scored off a throw-in to break the tie.

Cesar Rojas scored off a pass from Patrick O'Dwyer to open the scoring for Long Branch.

No. 8 Middletown South 6, Ocean 0

Junior Matt Glynn scored a goal and assisted another as the Eagles (1-1) stormed past the Spartans (0-2) to even up their record. Senior Matt Cozzi added a goal and an assist, senior Danny Minze assisted two goals, and Chase Guinta, Sean Liner and Nick Bouton each added a goal in the win.

Donovan Catholic 3, Central 2 (OT)

Junior Dean Carskaddan drilled a left-footed shot in the 95th minute and the Griffins (1-1) rallied for a win over the Golden Eagles (0-1). Senior Nick Calvetto set up Carskaddan for the winner.

Sophomore Preston Kyriakoulis tied the game in the 75th on a free kick and also assisted a goal by senior Vin Loffredo that tied the score at 1-1 in the 16th minute.

Sophomore Mike Azzarone opened the scoring for Central in the fifth minute and senior Kody Huffert put the Golden Eagles back in front with a goal in the 45th.

Marlboro 6, Brick 1

Senior Mike Steinberg recorded a hat trick and the Mustangs (1-0) cruised to a win over the Green Dragons (0-2) to open their season with a one-sided win. Senior Max Shushkovsky added a goal and two assists while senior Mitchell Katsman and junior Dan Risin each pitched in a goal for Marlboro.

Colts Neck 6, Red Bank Catholic 0

No. 5 Holmdel 1, No. 3 Freehold Twp. 0

Senior Jack Giamanco won a battle for the ball inside the 18-yard box and whipped a shot in during the 15th minute for the game's lone goal - enough to lift the Hornets (2-0) over the Patriots (0-2) for their second straight win over a top-10 team to open the season.

Sophomore Tommy Chyzowych saved three shots - including two solid strikes by senior Tiron Shatku. Shatku recorded a hat trick in his first high school soccer game Tuesday night at Toms River North.

Holmdel senior Mark Walier denied Shatku on his best chance in the 64th, when he leaped in front of a wide-open Shatku shot from the corner of the six-yard box and deflected it out of bounds.

Barnegat 4, Keyport 1

Junior Connor Costello scored two first-half goals and senior Alex Zuniga added two in the second half to lead the Bengals (2-0) past the Red Raiders (0-1) for their second straight win to open the season.

Senior Breandian Greene scored the lone Keyport goal.

Raritan 2, Red Bank 1 (OT)

Jaren Caso scored the golden goal in the seventh minute of overtime and the Rockets (1-0) upended the Bucs (1-1) to open their season with a win.

Junior Joe Seber scored off a pass from sophomore Logan Amoedeo in the first half for Raritan's first goal.

Pinelands 2, Shore 1

Junior Johnny Hart scored off a pass from sophomore Adam Grelak and senior Logan Johnson added a first-half goal off an assist by sophomore James Cahill as the Wildcats (1-1) bounced back from a season-opening loss to Jackson Memorial by beating the Blue Devils (1-1).

Lacey 2, Rumson-Fair Haven 1 (OT)

Senior Sean Moffitt scored the golden goal with 1:17 remaining in the second overtime period and the Lions (1-0) pulled out a win over the Bulldogs (0-1) to open their season.

Senior Kian Gonzalez assisted both Lacey goals, with the winner coming on a long ball ahead to the 18-goal scorer from a year ago. Sophomore Kody Besser scored the game's first goal in the 24th minute after Gonzalez flicked a header off a free kick by D.J. Edinger.

Senior Andrew Singleton followed with the equalizer for Rumson in the 28th minute.

Monmouth 2, St. John Vianney 0

Senior Mason Martelloni scored two goals for the second straight game and the Falcons (2-0) topped the Lancers (0-2) to win their second straight to open the season. Martelloni converted a 20-yard direct kick in the first half and finished a feed from sophomore Ryan Kuldanek in the second.

Toms River East 2, Point Beach 1

Junior Alex Heid tied the game with a penalty kick and sophomore Gabe Lopez scored the winner off a pass from freshman Kajus Matazinskas to help the Raiders (1-0) rally for a win over the Garnet Gulls (0-1) in the opener for both teams.

St. Rose 1, Point Boro 0

Senior Christian Riozzi-Bodine scored off a pass from junior Matt Kirkpatrick in the 25th minute and the Purple Roses (1-0) held on for a win over the Panthers (0-2) in their season-opener.

Class B South

Barnegat 3, Lakewood 2 (OT)

Freshman Jesse Hedlund headed in a free kick by senior Grady Edwards for the golden goal in the second overtime and the Bengals (1-0) edged the Piners (0-1) to give first-year coach Kevin Peters his first head-coaching victory.

Non-Division

No. 7 Southern 2, Manalapan 1

Junior Kevin Kiernan started his season with two second-half goals that rallied his Rams (1-0) to an opening-day win over the Braves (0-1) on the road.

Senior Jeremy Winn and sophomore Kerem Satar set up the two goals by Kiernan with assists, the first to tie the game in the 47th minute and the second in the 68th to give Southern the lead.

Senior Lucas Moreira opened the scoring with a goal in the 23rd minute off a pass from fellow senior Mike Schimbeno.

Non-Conference

No. 1 CBA at Delran - PPD, TBD (Lightning)

Dan Strohlein scored in the fourth minute of action to give Delran a 1-0 lead on CBA but the game was called in the 31st minute due to lightning. A make-up date has not been determined and should there be one, the game would restart from the beginning with no score.
