Manalapan 4, Howell 3 (OT)

Senior Mike Avnet scored the golden goal 25 seconds into overtime off a pass from senior James Besser and the Braves (3-6-1, 2-4-1) won a wild, back-and-forth game against the rival Rebels (3-10, 0-7).

Howell scored three unanswered goals to erase a 1-0 halftime deficit before Manalapan swung back to tie the game. Senior Lucas Moreira scored off a pass from senior Mike Schimbeno in the 64th and Manalapan tied it a minute later on a goal from Schimbeno off an assist from Avnet.

Senior Mike Anello scored Howell's first two goals and assisted the third to lead the Rebels.

Senior Jon Moreira opened the scoring for Manalapan with a goal in the 34th minute.

No. 4 CBA 4, No. 2 Freehold Twp. 2

Senior Noah Santiforte answered Freehold Township's opening strike and senior Luke Pascarella scored in the second minute of the second half to give the Colts (9-3-1, 4-2-1) control in a win over the Patriots (10-5, 5-1).

Santiforte scored off the first of two assists by senior Mike Casper to tie the game at 1-1 in the 36th and Pascarella finished the go-ahead goal off a pass from junior Brett Sieg in the 42nd.

Senior Brendan Dettling ran onto a ball from Casper in the 73rd and finished to the upper left of the goal for a 3-1 CBA lead.

Freehold Township junior Zach Orrico earned a penalty kick by drawing a foul at the edge of the 18-yard box and senior Bennett Messinger converted to cut CBA's lead to 3-2 in the 75th.

CBA answered in a little more than a minute, with senior Chris Vollrath dribbling around oncoming goalkeeper John Wilhelm and placing a shot to the exposed net from 18 yards out.

Orrico opened the scoring with a goal in the 34th minute for Freehold Township, which fell into a first-place tie in the Class A North standings with Marlboro with one divisional game left to play for each team.

 

Class A Central

No. 1 Holmdel 7, Red Bank Catholic 1

Senior Jack Giamanco picked up a hat trick in the first 12:30 of the game and the Hornets (13-0, 6-0) coasted past the Caseys (1-11-1, 0-5-1) to complete a perfect season in A Central for the third straight year.

Senior Jason Ng added a goal and two assists, while Arya Sanai, Mark Walier and Anas Ani each scored as well.

 

Class B North

St. John Vianney 4, Red Bank 1

Senior Armand Valentino racked up a hat trick on Senior Night and the Lancers (3-9-1, 1-5-0) shook off an early Red Bank goal to beat the Bucs (4-7-1, 0-5-1).

After Red Bank jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first minute, sophomore Johnny Troiano tied the game a minute later and Valentino struck in the fifth minute to give SJV a 2-1 lead after a wild start to the game.

Valentino added a second goal in the 25th and capped his big night in the 76th off a through-ball from Troiano.

Brick Memorial 5, Barnegat 0

Bryan Zamora scored the first of five goals by five different Brick Memorial players as the Mustangs (5-6-1) handled the Bengals (8-3-1). Jimmie Goodman, Patrick Schlagenhaft, Bill Caruso and Mike Napolitano each added a goal in the win.

Mater Dei Prep 5, Henry Hudson 3

Junior Liam Stewart went off for four goals and the Seraphs (4-6-1) topped the Admirals (1-10) for the second time this season.

Raritan 6, Jackson Liberty 0

Point Boro 2, Central 0

Alex Baginski scored in the 25th minute and Mariano Maradiegue added a penalty kick in the 65th to pace the Panthers (5-9-1) past the Golden Eagles (1-13).

Brick 4, Manchester 1

Joy Valdovinos scored two of Brick's four second-half goals to help lead the Green Dragons (5-6-1) past the Hawks (7-6).

Matt Beal opened the scoring for Brick before Logan Duffy pulled Manchester even in the 51st. Valdovinos gave Brick the lead back in the 56th and Zack Meyer tacked on the first of two insurance goals in the 70th, with Valdovinos scoring again in the 74th.
