Holmdel 2, St. John Vianney 1 (OT)

Sophomore Anthony Arena scored both Holmdel goals, including the winner in the second minute of the second overtime to lead the Hornets (4-1-1, 3-1-1) to a win over the Lancers (2-6, 1-6).

Arena scored on a free kick for Holmdel's first goal and ran on to a ball over the top of the defense by sophomore Joe Arena before burying the golden goal from six-yards out.

Senior Justin Bruno scored the lone goal for St. John Vianney.

 

Class B North

Long Branch 4, Monmouth 1

Junior Venancio Fernandes recorded his second hat trick of the season and also assisted a goal by Stiviny Da Silva as the Green Wave (2-5, 2-4) overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit to beat the Falcons (1-7, 1-5).

Gianni Di Schiano scored on a feed from Joel Burgos to give Monmouth a 1-0 lead that the Falcons took into halftime.

Manasquan 3, Red Bank Catholic 0

Juniors Chris Capone, Ryan Flanagan and Nick Bilotti each scored a goal and junior Chris Black assisted two as well to help the Warriors (4-2-1, 4-1-1) to a win over the Caseys (0-7, 0-6).

Capone scored off a flicked header by sophomore Matt Drake a minute into the game and Black set up second-half goals by Flanagan and Bilotti.

No. 5 Middletown North 2, Middletown South 1

Junior Ryan Binn scored the game-winning goal 24 seconds after Middletown South tied the game in the 69th minute and the Lions held on to beat the Eagles and remain unbeaten.

Middletown South freshman Danny Minze scored on a counter-attack off a pass from junior Mike Zito to pull the Eagles even with 11:40 left. Middletown North came right back with an answer as Binn stepped in front of an attempted clearance near the left post and deflected the ball into the far right side netting.

Middletown North opened the scoring in the 37th minute on a penalty kick by senior Ryan Harmon. Senior Elliot De La Rosa beat his man around the corner and drew a foul near the endline on the right side of the field.

 

Non-Division

Jackson Liberty 6, Brick Memorial 1

Senior Alex Iorio scored two of his team's three first-half goals and the Lions (4-3-1) cruised to a win over the Mustangs (0-7-1).

Junior Trevor Anderson set up Iorio's first goal in the ninth minute and also assisted a goal by senior Nate Santana two minutes into the second half that extended Jackson Liberty's lead to 4-0. Senior Kyle Macauley added a goal in the 46th minute to extend the lead to 5-0 and Senior Evan Salaj scored off a feed from junior Kevin Garry to cap the scoring.

Sophomore Sean Aubry scored the lone Brick Memorial goal with a header in the 52nd minute. Jackson Liberty also benefited from an own goal in the 18th minute to made the score 2-0.

Lakewood 2, Keyport 1

Sophomore Jorge Araiza and junior Anthony Calixto each scored first-half goals and the Piners (3-6) held on to beat the Red Raiders (0-8). Araiza also assisted Calixto's goal and sophomore Gio Hernandez also chipped in an assist.

Keyport senior Brendan O'Brien scored two minutes before halftime to cut the Lakewood lead in half.

Point Boro 3, St. Rose 2

Senior Mason Remondelli buried a left-footed strike to the far left post from 14 yards out in the 61st minute to break a 2-2 tie and lift the Panthers (6-1) to a win over the Purple Roses (6-2) - the fifth straight win for Point Boro.

St. Rose struck within the first minute of the game on an 18-yard strike by senior Jack Cusack. Point Boro pulled even by the half thanks to a penalty kick by Jake Brzyski, set up by Remondelli beating his man and drawing a foul inside the penalty box.

Senior Matt Kimak gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead in the 46th minute on a shot from close range, but St. Rose responded with the equalizer just 57 seconds later. Senior Matty O'Malley played a ball in the air to the left side of the 18-yard box and senior Chris Gowen finished the goal to the far left corner.

Donovan Catholic 2, No. 2 Toms River South 1

Senior Matt Dalton scored a tie-breaking goal in the 51st minute and the Griffins (3-3-2) held on to knock off the previously undefeated Indians (6-1), snapping a three-game losing streak of their own.

Donovan Catholic fell into an early 1-0 hole thanks to Toms River South senior Dylan Parks, who scored in the fourth minute off a pass from junior Dustin Urbaczek.

The Griffins responded in the 35th minute on a goal by senior Brendan Maguire, who finished off a pass from senior Jon Michael Pereira. Pereira also assisted the winning goal by Dalton.

No. 1 CBA 3, DeMatha (Md.) 0

Matt Thorsheim assisted a goal by Aaron Robertson and added one of his own to cap the scoring as the Colts (7-0) beat DeMatha in convincing fashion to remain unbeaten. Senior Patk Kollman opened the scoring on a pass from senior Scott Misson.
