Class A North

Howell 2, No. 9 Marlboro 0

Rudy Braun and Andrew Louis each scored a goal and the Rebels (3-0, 3-0) blanked the Mustangs (1-1, 1-1) to rattle off their third straight win to open the season.

No. 1 Freehold Twp. 2, Manalapan 0

Senior Adam Havens broke a scoreless tie in the 50th minute and assisted an insurance goal by junior J.T. Gold as the Patriots (3-0, 3-0) topped the Braves (0-3, 0-3) for a third straight win to open the season.

Senior Aidan Szymanski played the ball through to Havens to set up the first goal after Manalapan held the Shore's No. 1 team off the board for the first 50 minutes.

No. 5 Long Branch 3, Middletown South 1

Senior Augusto Bontempo broke the ice in the first half and Eduardo Ribiero and Lucas Barbosa added second-half scores as the Green Wave (1-0, 1-0) rolled past the Eagles (0-2, 0-2) in their season opener.

Senior Jason Laviola also picked up a pair of assists for Long Branch.

 

Class A Central

Holmdel 1, No. 10 Monmouth 0

Senior Felix Doebbel converted a penalty kick in the third minute and the Hornets (1-0, 1-0) made it stand up in a win over the Falcons (0-3, 0-3) that extends their unbeaten streak to 55 games.

Senior Connor Hinds drew a trip just inside the 18-yard box to set up Doebbel - a starting central defender - for his first varsity goal.

Class B North

Manasquan 2, Freehold Boro 0

Junior Mike Cafiero scored two goals to lead the Warriors (2-0-1, 2-0-1) over the Colonials (1-2, 1-2). Cafiero struck in the 20th minute by following a shot off the post by junior Evan Pitzer, then added a goal in the 52nd by volleying home a shot from inside the box off a corner kick by sophomore Matt Karolak.

No. 7 Wall 3, Neptune 1

Junior Matt Murphy scored off a pass from senior Sean Southwell in the second minute and both Crimson Knights assisted goals by senior Jake Pepe to pace Wall (3-0, 3-0) to a win over the Scarlet Fliers (0-2, 0-2).

Pepe scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season within the first 20 minutes of Monday's match to finish off the Wall scoring.

Ernst Louisiius got Neptune on the board in the 62nd minute.

Matawan 1, Red Bank 0

Junior Jarred Norman scored off a pass from classmate Jacob Cole as the Huskies (2-1, 2-1) broke through in the second half to upend the Bucs (0-3, 0-3).

 

Class B Central

Point Beach 5, Henry Hudson 0

Sophomore Josh Boyan notched his second straight hat trick to open the season and the Garnet Gulls (2-0, 2-0) beat the Admirals (0-2, 0-2) to finish off a season-series sweep.

Junior Isaac Enu and sophomore Owen Curtiss also added a goal apiece, with Enu also contributing an assist.
