Class A North

No. 1 CBA 5, Howell 1

Senior Brett Sieg opened the scoring with a direct kick in the first half and scored one of CBA's four goals after the intermission as the Colts (5-0, 4-0) beat the Rebels (3-3-2, 3-3-2) for their fifth straight win to open the season.

Seniors Jack Longo and Graydon Santos each scored a goal and junior John Sciascia capped the scoring in the 75th for CBA.

Middletown North 2, Middletown South 1

For the second straight game, senior Aidan Cardella scored two goals - this time the tying goal late in regulation and the golden goal in overtime to lift the Lions (3-3-1, 3-2-1) to a second straight win over the rival Eagles (3-5, 3-5).

Cardella scored the equalizer in the 77th minute to send the game into overtime, then ended it in the sixth minute of extra time with his fourth goal of the week against his team's crosstown rival.

Sam Tinoco also scored for the second straight game to give Middletown South its lone goal of the match.

 

Class A Central

Rumson-Fair Haven 2, Monmouth 1

Junior Luke Pentikis and sophomore Alex Santos each scored a goal and the Bulldogs (3-3-1, 3-2-1) snapped a four-game winless skid by denying the Falcons (0-7-1, 0-7-1) their first win.

Junior Ethan Wallace gave Monmouth the lead with a goal midway through the first half before Pentikis - who missed the last two games with an injured knee - converted a direct kick in the 34th minute to tie the game.

Pentikis later found Santos for the game-winner and his first career goal in the 60th minute.

 

Class A South

No. 3 Toms River North 6, Central 0

Junior A.J. Emnace scored both of his goals in the first half and the Mariners (7-0, 7-0) coasted by the Golden Eagles (0-6-1, 0-6-1) to remain perfect during the 2020 season.

Junior Mattia Assante scored a goal and assisted on two others for Toms River North, which scored four times in a span of 13 minutes of the first half to take control of the game.

Senior Jack Montanile added a goal and an assist while sophomores Matt Bozicev and Vinny O'Donnell each scored a goal in the first half.

Jackson Memorial 1, Toms River East 0

Senior Noah Tobias emerged from a scramble in the box with a shot that found the back of the net and delivered the Jaguars (1-6-1, 1-6-1) a win over the the Raiders (2-6, 2-6) - their first of the season. Senior Bugra Celick got the final touch on the ball off a long throw-in by senior Zach Rogacki before Tobias converted the game's lone goal.

No. 2 Southern 4, Toms River South 0

Senior Kevin Kiernan scored 10 minutes into the match and played junior Mario Addiego through for another goal in the second half as the Rams (8-0, 8-0) blanked the Indians (3-4, 3-4) to remain perfect on the season.

Senior J.P. Prosperi extended Southern's lead to 2-0 before halftime with a goal off a corner kick by senior Jack Pleyn and junior Kerem Satar scored the final Southern goal.

Brick 3, Brick Memorial 2

Sean Palmer scored on a breakaway in the 78th minute and the Green Dragons (5-2, 5-2) won a back-and-forth rivalry game against the Mustangs (2-4-2, 2-4-2) to sweep the two-game series against their crosstown rival this week.

Senior Eli Chong pulled Brick even with an equalizer in the 64th minute after Brick Memorial took a 2-1 lead into the half.

Shawn Lyon knocked in a cross to give Brick an early 1-0 lead before Brick Memorial sophomore Billy Caruso answered with two straight goals before halftime.

 

Class B Central

Asbury Park 3, Point Beach 2

Senior Jaquan Lunsford scored two goals and the Blue Bishops (3-2, 3-2) bounced back from a Tuesday loss at Point Beach by beating the Garnet Gulls (5-2, 5-2) on their home turf. Senior Woodley Cagilus scored the other Asbury Park goal.

Sophomore Josh Boyan scored a goal and assisted one by senior Luke Zylinski to lead Point Beach.

Mater Dei Prep 3, Henry Hudson 2 (OT)

Senior Dan Palmer scored the golden goal off a corner kick by senior Jeremy Ramos and the Seraphs (1-4, 1-4) upended the Admirals (1-6, 1-6) for their first win of the season.

Senior Christian Szotak got Mater Dei on the board off a feed from junior Zach O'Neal and junior Johnny Contini finished off a rebound for the second Seraphs goal.

Ranney 5, Keyport 0

Junior Charles Anyichie scored two goals and assisted one more to lead the Panthers (6-0, 6-0) over the Red Raiders (0-6, 0-6) for a sixth straight win to open the season. Junior Tommy Boyan pitched in a goal and an assist while Charlie McCann and Mitchell Oldham scored the other two Ranney goals.

 

Class B South

Pinelands 1, Lacey 0

Senior Johnny Hart converted a penalty kick in the seventh minute after a trip near the edge of the box on the left side and the Wildcats (7-0-1, 7-0-1) held off the Lions (5-2-1, 5-2-1) to sweep a two-game set between the top two teams in the Class B South standings.

After conceding the early goal, Lacey controlled the ball for the majority of the game, outshooting Pinelands, 16-5, and owning a 12-1 edge on corner kicks. The Lions nearly tied the score twice within the span of a minute, with Pinelands keeper Gavin Harris saving a dangerous strike by Lacey senior D.J. Edinger in the 65th, following by a volley off the crossbar by senior George-Kyle Hernandez.

The shutout is the seventh in eight games for Harris and the Pinelands defense, which has allowed only one goal all season.

Donovan Catholic 3, Barnegat 2 (OT)

Junior Preston Kyriakoulis scored the golden goal off a pass from senior Vin Mendes and the Griffins (2-4-1, 2-4-1) prevailed with an overtime win over the Bengals (0-6-1, 0-6-1) after Barnegat rallied from a 2-0 deficit to send the game into overtime.

The game-winner was the second of the game for Kyriakoulis, with the first coming on a first-half penalty kick. Sophomore Ryan Butchko scored the other Donovan Catholic goal to help the Griffins out to a two-goal first-half lead.

Junior Schuyler Jodice scored both Barnegat goals to draw his team even, the first coming a minute before halftime and the equalizer in the 73rd minute.
