Class A North

Howell 2, Manalapan 1

Junior Chris Osario scored the deciding goal for the second time in as many games and the Rebels (2-0, 2-0) held off the Braves (0-2, 0-2) to complete a season-opening sweep of their rivals.

Andrew Louis opened the scoring four minutes into the match an Osario extended the Howell lead to 2-0 in the 20th off a pass from Rhys Rossi.

Junior James Bruno converted a penalty kick in the 34th to put Manalapan on the scoreboard.

No. 1 Freehold Twp. 3, Middletown North 2 (OT)

Senior Zach Orrico scored the equalizer with 1:22 left in regulation and the golden goal 38 seconds into the second overtime to rally the Patriots (2-0, 2-0) to a win over the upset-minded Lions (0-2, 0-2).

Orrico one-timed a near-post cross from senior Shane O'Malley in the 78th minute to tie the score at 2-2 and in the first minute of the second overtime period, senior Adam Havens slipped a through-ball to Orrico, who finished to the far left corner of the goal.

Freehold Township broke onto the board first on a goal by junior Christian Mojares off a Havens assist in the 13th minute.

Middletown North struck back in the 19th on a header by senior Denzel Boateng off a corner kick by senior J.T. Meredith and took the lead in the 35th when sophomore Michael Colantino finished off a rebound.

Class A Central

Ocean 4, No. 10 Monmouth 2

Junior Peter Baillergeu scored two goals and classmates Aidan Tisony and Michael Reid each added one as the Spartans (2-0, 2-0) stormed out to a 3-0 lead en route to a second straight win over the Falcons (0-2, 0-2). Tisony also added two assists and Reid contributed one as well.

Junior Kaan Pehlivan got Monmouth on the board in the 52nd minute and junior Ryan Kuldanek added a goal in the final two.

Raritan 7, Red Bank Catholic 0

Sophomore Lupo Ryder racked up four goals and the Rockets (2-0, 2-0) handled the Caseys (0-2, 0-2) for the second time in three days to open their season.

Senior Chris Fontanazza added a goal and three assists and Chris Rotondo and Tyler Tristao each scored a goal as well.

Class A South

No. 3 Toms River North 4, Toms River East 2

Senior Ali Baish scored two second-half goals after assisting one in the first half to lead the Mariners (2-0, 2-0) to a second straight win over the Raiders (0-2, 0-2) to open their season.

Junior A.J. Emnace scored off a set-up from Baish in the first-half and returned the favor with an assist on Baish's first goal. Junior Jared Brown opened the scoring for Toms River North off a pass from senior Jack Montanile.

Senior Alex Heid scored both goals for Toms River East.

Toms River South 5, Brick 1

Junior Danny Lindov scored three unanswered goals to open the game and the Indians (1-1, 1-1) paid back the Green Dragons (1-1, 1-1) for Thursday's 5-1 loss by inflicting the same damage on Saturday.

Senior Campbell Challoner added a second-half goal to go with two assists and sophomore Jon Fitzgerald chipped in a goal and an assist as well for Toms River South.

Brick Memorial 1, Central 0

Ryan Smith emerged from a scramble inside the six-yard box to score the game's lone goal and the Mustangs (1-0-1, 1-0-1) edged the Golden Eagles (0-1-1, 0-1-1) for coach Brian Swider's first win.

 

Class B North

Freehold Boro 2, Matawan 1

Senior Mike Romero-Vargas opened the scoring in the first half and junior Tharnthong Phua added one in the 65th minute to pace the Colonials (1-1, 1-1) to a win over the Huskies (1-1, 1-1) after dropping the opener to Matawan Thursday in overtime.

No. 7 Wall 1, Red Bank 0

Junior Kyle Horowitz scored the lone goal 22 minutes into the match off a feed from junior Emmett Aravich and the Crimson Knights (2-0, 2-0) earned a sweep of the Bucs (0-2, 0-2).

 

Class B Central

Point Beach 7, Henry Hudson 0

Sophomore Josh Boyan recorded a hat trick and classmate Owen Curtis added a pair of goals as well to pace the Garnet Gulls (1-0, 1-0) to a win over the Admirals (0-1, 0-1) in their season opener.

Sophomore Colin Hutton also scored one of Point Beach's six first-half goals and one of the two assisted by junior Isaac Enu. Junior Tanner Curtis scored the final Beach goal in the 47th minute.

Senior Owen Marcoux also assisted two goals and senior goalkeeper Dylan Aportela added an assist to go with his shutout in net.

 

Class B South

Manchester 2, Point Boro 1

Junior Vincent Paolillo scored a goal in the second half and assisted another by sophomore Owen Edwards as the Hawks (1-0-1, 1-0-1) rallied past the Panthers (0-1-1, 0-1-1) to take the season series from Point Boro after the two teams tied on Thursday.

Sophomore Max Dyba opened the scoring in the 31st by converting a Point Boro penalty kick.

Jackson Liberty 3, Barnegat 0

Junior Elton Canka scored for the second time in as many games and the Lions (2-0, 2-0) swept the season series from the Bengals (0-2, 0-2).

Sophomore Connor Yurgel opened the scoring and after Canka made it 2-0, sophomore Jimmy Cappucci closed it out off an assist from Gio Batista.

Pinelands 4, Donovan Catholic 0

Senior Johnny Hart scored two goals and junior James Cahill contributed a goal and two assists to lead the Wildcats (2-0, 2-0) to a second straight win over the Griffins (0-2, 0-2). Senior Nate Szwed also scored a goal in the Pinelands win.
